That's strange. I didn't think marks actually affected whether or not students graduate here. CERTAIN PAST STUDENTS HAVE MUCH TO ANSWER FOR...

Really? I got a letter from the headmaster and he said things like how he was sorry and that despite my obvious efforts I shouldn't stretch myself so thin. I'm good at classes like PE and archery for sure, but some classes are nightmares I have to live every single day LIKE PHYSICS BAW!

Hey, wait! If grades don't matter, then what DOES qualify us to graduate, anyway? And why was I singled out!

...I'm not sure. I get the feeling he fails students at random just to give the illusion that there's some kind of structure here.

You mean there isn't?

Dude, you don't seem the failure type at all. I don't think any of that stuff's true.

So you took too much! No big deal, really. No guy could handle so much, y'know?

I've been kinda chill lately though.

Exactly! See, it's easy to understand! All I did was make a mistake, and wow did I learn from it.

Chill? That's a good word for it! Meeee too. Maybe I'm just pooped out. I still try keeping myself in shape every day, but the summer heat makes things feel lazy. I actually feel like swimming. It's not as fun to swim when you're all by yourself, though...

[DID. MAC WARN YOU ABOUT THAT. MAYBE IT WAS HIS IMAGINATION. Oh well, like he cares. He's stubborn too after all.]

Good to know.

Usually I go to the pool to swim laps for trainin'. Not a lot of people are there durin' the earlier hours of the mornin'. I like the idea of havin' some company to have a lil' bit of fun at the pool, though.

I don't go there for training, but that's a good idea! I want to come with. You can show me how you train!

I don't see what's so hard about handling a lot of classes. Ambition is good! I can do it with my hands tied behind my back!

... Wait, homework monsters? You're serious?

Don't get me wrong! I am ambitious! I can take on almost anything! I don't know why they failed me. I got A's in plenty of classes! But I also got D's and F's and

No, of course not! Homework monsters don't exist. That's ridiculous. [SAYS THE DERP WHO WILL BELIEVE IN ANYTHING] It was just a figure of speech, that's all.

Then that's just a complaint you've gotta send to the Headmaster, silly! You can't just take THAT hot treatment sitting down! Storm up to their office and do something about it!

Oh. Right. [a-ahahahaha...] Well... look, you'd think they were real, too, from how surreal this place is!

Maybe it's not too late! Maybe I can convince them that I'm hard-working and then they'll change their mind! I have to stand up for myself! What's the worst they could do, anyway? Deny me? Ack, but what if they send me down even lower! I'll be a freshman all over again!

Monsters aren't surreal... Actually, you have a point. But what would a homework monster even look like? What, does it eat your homework or something? Hahahaha!

... You didn't move up a grade? Seriously? How the hell did you manage to mess up that badly? I mean honestly, this school is so laid back, I'm surprised such a thing is even possible.

No, stop! I heard enough, okay? I know, I know. I learned my lesson. And I didn't mess up THAT bad... It's just one grade, right? I mean, look, I'm definitely cut out for passing grades! I passed freshman year no sweat!

Why does everyone think this school is so laid back, anyway? I always have to work HARD for my grades! It's so frustrating when people say that kind of thing...

At most schools, the workload increases and becomes more difficult with each passing grade. Then again, nothing about this place is "normal."

Maybe you wouldn't have to work so hard if you took easier classes. Classes you knew you could actually pass. Instead of taking too many classes that were above your level. Why did you ever think that was a good idea?

[Dramatic sigh]

What class did you fail?

Oh, more than just one! Ethics, physics, cooking, public speaking... you know, a few. It's pretty embarrassing, isn't it?

Dull? You want me to spruce up the place again?

That depends. What do you have in your mind?

Well nothing right now, but give me a few days and I'll have something exciting, tee hee hee!

Lasers.

Hey that reminds me. I wanna help me train Skarmory to fly? Since you've got wings and all...

[Urk! He doesn't fly all that well... But how can he just admit that? Okay, sure, he's done it before, but it's NOT EASY.]
