I have realized that I have become an anti-social hermit. More and more I am becoming awkward socializing even with people I know, but don't feel 100% comfortable with. I'm going increasing cranky with the world, especially the people I know as well. I tend to stress myself out way too much and it's hard to deal with the whole brand new guide

This has given me the idea to invite a guide dog group to do a booth at our dog event in September. They could do some education on how to approach guide dog teams and had out brochures on the subject.

There's a TV ad in Canada right now - I don't know if it's running anywhere else. The scene is a man in dark glasses with a white cane on the sidewalk. Someone does this stupid dance in front of him, waving their arms in his face, doing the "you can't see me" kind of thing. The blind man doesn't react. The dancing person turns away, and then the blind man does the same stupid dance to his back. The tag line is something like "not all blind people are completely blind".

Could have said it better myself. Others just don't seem to care nor realize that their distracting my guide dog even if she is just sitting (yet in harness still working) on the bus could put both me and my guide's life in danger. I tried to explain this to people, but sometimes I smell smoke fumes from their brains working overtime trying to comprehend that a guide dog is not only a dog but a mobility tool with responsiblities ( ... )
