Spore!

Sep 02, 2012 02:25

Near the galactic core, on the shores of the wild, young planet Chumcha, a meteor strikes, carrying with it the seeds of life.

Over millions of years, tiny one-celled creatures evolve. They live out their tiny lives in tidepools, eating, mating, dying but always propagating the species forward another tiny generation at a time...

I can't wait to see more. I never played Spore, but this is intriguing to me.

It's fun! It's not very challenging (so far anyway). Not like some games. So it's pretty relaxing actually.

I feel like I should say I'm kidding about some things. The Hoobas wasn't throwing up because it found violence sickening, it was just that I wanted to see what would happen if it ate meat (the Hoobas are herbivores). It threw up on the corpse. I probably would have, too!

But the cheerleading pom-poms really did help them with their charm ability, enabling them to make allies. I just put the pom poms on their hands to be silly. In creature stage, your main goal is to amass DNA points and collect new parts to choose from when your creatures get a chance to evolve. There are "fossils" lying around that you can collect (they look like piles of bones) and you can also get new parts by befriending other creatures or by killing them. That's how the Hoobas got the deer antlers, by killing some creatures that attacked them.

I've barely started the Tribal stage, but I'm sure I'll have more to report soon. :)

Oh wow! I haven't played Spore in years! I don't even have the CD anymore! :-P

I feel for you losing creatures! I had this cute thing... whatever it's name was and it was a humanoid lobster. XD

My only gripe with the game is how difficult it is to be "neutral". :(

But your creatures look cute!

I love how doofy looking the pink creature is! XD

I know, that pink creature cracked me up. I should have made a note as to its name, so I could make sure to look for the creator. I started a new game today with the intent of evolving wolpertingers, and that's been a lot of fun.

The Pom pom placement on the hands is hilarious! You've gotten much further with your guys than I got! I must be doing something wrong that I never got my little guy to tribal state in the time I played. Heehee! They did migrate, though.
That last shot of him cheering in the sunset is too adorable!

I did sort of power these guys through... once I got enough DNA to get better socializing parts it went pretty fast! The cheerleading really did the trick as for some reason I had a lot of potential allies that wanted to be charming. :D

The last pic is from one of the volcano vents - did you find any of those? They're just fun to play with. I found I could draw members of my pack over the vent too, and send them flying. :D

I never found the vents, yet, but it's possible I'm on a different planet than you picked.

And yes, I love the way they socialize with everyone! XD Zoidbird keeps having to charm half the guys he runs into.

That's true - I've tried two planets and both have volcanos, but that doesn't mean all planets do! I'm pretty sure based on the scenery that you're playing on a different one.

Tribal stage is turning out to be fun. My wolpertingers are expanding (and I hope to get them to make some allies - they made some friends at the end of the creature stage, too).

You know, I have more fun reading about other people's spore game than playing it myself. I just never got into it after the initial stages of life.

I wonder if part of the reason it didn't do that well is that it blends too many different types of games. With each stage you're switching to a new perspective and to me, at least, that's a little disorienting. Tribal stage is still confusing me, after the relatively simple Creature stage.

That's actually a good point and what I felt like when I was playing it. Like, what now. I know that they want to keep it challenging but it felt like starting over each time, which I guess it was.

Love the later generation look of the Hoobanooby and learning that they invented cheerleading has really made me smile.

That's a pain that your already created creatures have disappeared. I liked your creatures that you've shared so far. Brain is on hiatus along with memory but I 'test drove' one and the longer back legs on it made for a cool creature.

(May need to come back and provide the name tomorrow. Head is too fuzzy tonight. Think I'll go play and catch up on all the other LJ stuff I've missed tomorrow. Forgive me, please.)

No forgiveness needed :) I understand about being too fuzzy headed. I've been that way a lot, lately.

I think you're talking about the banded stankpos, the ones that appeared black and yellow in your game? That is still weird to me! Though I have had little graphics oddities too. I was working on one creature, and every time it opened its mouth, I could see great black square blotches inside that shouldn't have been there. :/

I kind of want to start the Hoobas over now that I know a bit more. Hmm...
