My Adventures in Pleasantview: The Burbs

Jun 30, 2010 00:33

Today, I decided to revisit a neighborhood that is near and dear to many simmers' hearts- good old Pleasantview. This time I plan to make the story go differently than last time I was playing the 'hood- and one way I want to do that is by paying equal attention to all the families. Last time I gave most of my attention to the Pleasants and Dreamers ( Read more... )

They always came in the Sim Bin, so they tend to be forgotten a lot.
That tends to happen with the bin families. I think it's especially because they aren't very well integrated into the story within the neighborhood. They're kind of like sideplots, and unfortunately most people don't like to do those, it seems.

As someone who loves the premade Sims (as you should already know :P), it's great to see what other people are doing with them, and especially someone who has a totally different game in terms of content. You should show these off at maxis_taste - I'm sure others there would love to see them, too!

Ooh, I will! The Burbs ARE related to the Pleasants, but other than that they don't really interact with the rest of the story too much. I think Maxis meant them to be that way though, what with the whole "settling down" concept on their description.

That, or they're meant for more creative players who would be able to take a family who is related to the neighborhood story but with no real story of their own. Perhaps with a touch of hope that players would think of things from their experiences with TS1 to give them more of a background.

That's a good point- I vaguely remember a Burb family in TS1... I think? Either way, I'd say having all those children and animals running around the house certainly spices things up a bit!

I like the makeovers you gave them. :) I confess to being one of those players that ignore the sims in the bin. I need to change that.

You should! I had so much fun with them. Not totally sure what I'm going to do with the Oldies though... maybe a business or some experimentation with vacations?
