Jane turned her head to look at the sound of Bones cursing. Not an unusual thing to hear, but there was something about the tone of his voice that spoke of unease.
Jane spun to face Bones while walking backwards. “What’s up Bones?” she asked, grinning widely at his scowl.
She didn’t even get an eyeroll, instead he grasped her by the upper arm and yanked her suddenly into an adjacent alcove.
“Bones what the hell?”
“Shh!” he hissed clamping a hand over her mouth.
She smirked and licked his palm expecting him to leap back.
She was disappointed when he just glared harder, his fingers giving a twitch against her cheeks.
“Ain’t gonna work this time girl.”
She reached up and grasped his wrist in a firm hold and gently pulled it off her face. She could see the serious look in his eyes.
“Bones. What’s going on?”
He shuffled her over to look out of their hiding spot and pointed across the quad. “I’ve been seeing that guy more and more often.”
She looked in the direction he indicated. “Which? The tall one with the hat and leather jacket?”
“Yeah that one. Every time we’re out lately, I see him watching us.” He grumbled.
She shrugged. “What about him? I see lots of people time and again on campus.”
He swung around to gaze at her in disbelief. “Damn it Jane! I only ever see him when I’m with you! Doesn’t that tell you anything?”
“That you have great observational skills?”
“It’s not funny Jane. I think he’s stalking you!”
She sighed. “So what if he is Bones?”
“So what if he…” Bones stuttered for a second and then narrowed his gaze. “Jane, what the fuck? You knew he was stalking you didn’t you? How long’s this been going on? When the hell were you going to say something? I’ve been seeing him out of the corner of my eye for weeks now!”
“More like a month and a half. But who’s counting?” She said trying to lighten the mood.
“Shit!” He said as he ran his fingers through his hair. “Start talking.”
Now it was her turn to roll her eyes. “Not everyone likes taking no for an answer. And for the record, I do say no occasionally. Anyway I wouldn’t worry about it Bones. I’m handling it.”
“You’re handling it? Oh I can see that! What was your plan wait till he walked up to you again and sock him? -This isn’t someone who will just go away!”
Jane felt her anger raise the hair on her skin. “You think I don’t know that Bones? This isn’t the first stalker I’ve ever had. I know what I’m doing. Guys like to get pushy, they like to get in my face. I’m not some delicate flower who has to run for help.”
Bones was turning a rare shade of red. “Not your first stalker. God Damnit Jane. I know you’re capable of taking care of yourself. Does it ever occur to you that there are people besides yourself that care about you? That worry about you and want to help you?”
He was taking deep heaving breaths like he’d run a marathon. He took a giant step forward, swaying slightly and she tensed not sure what to expect. So she was shocked when he pulled her into a tight hug.
“God Damn it.” He whispered in her hair.

This idea had been eating me all day. But this is as far as it’s letting me go. Ideas? Comments?
Anyone know how to change warnings so that you have to highlight to view them? Thanks
