If a regular citizen is convicted of a felony, they may no longer vote.

If a senator is convicted of a felony, they can still be a senator??? What the HELL is THAT about???

Aren't the lack of voting rights State by State? But yeah, it's bullshit to continue to punish someone after they've paid their debt.

Yep, they are. I don't know how recent this page is, http://www.hrw.org/reports98/vote/usvot98o.htm, but it was interesting.

Why can a convicted felon hold any kind of office whatsoever??? I don't mean a lifetime bar, necessarily, but the man was JUST convicted, and nobody's kicking him out of the Senate. WTF?

Either his state would have to do a recall election (if the state's laws allow for it), or the Senate would have to impeach him with a two-thirds majority.
