A co-worker turned me on to this band Breaking Benjamin. When I told her I like AC/DC and Disturbed, she told me about them. They grew up in the same neighborhood and she loves their music, then she sent me the link above ( Read more... )

HAHAHA!!! Breaking Benjamin!? Really? C'mon you're a bit behind the times! I'm surprised your kid didn't get you on it a few years back!

HEY!

My kid got me to like Green Day. I had only heard a few songs, which didn't really thrill me. After hearing the other songs, well, I'm now a BIG fan.

She may know about BB, I don't know. She surprised me by knowing about Avenged Sevenfold a year ago. She already knew and liked Disturbed, but that's my fault. I've tried very hard to corrupt her with a lot of my music. ;-)

I'm behind the times on a LOT of things. I didn't get into some of the Grunge music until the last 4 years or so. I'm surprised that some of the post Grunge groups are still making music, like Collective Soul. I like most of their albums.

As for stuff like BB, I'd love to find more like that, but it's hard to find when you don't know the band names. AS is a *little* too much for me.

Recommendations?

I never really considered Collective Soul "grunge" but more alternative when I listened to them back in the 90's. They weren't so grunge as Nirvana per se. But if you compared them to Pearl Jam I can see... Although PJ was crap, and overrated. Collective Soul's last CD I remember being any good was their self titled one, and that was like in 95.

Since you like BB, I'll have to say you'll undoubtedly like Hinder... I swear when I was in MO I couldn't get away from those two, it seemed to be everyone's favorite.

As far as music I listen to, it's a range from hardcore/screamo and real "emo" (emotive hardcore), punk, and rock/metal. I like Rise Against, Atreyu, Saosin, Sparta, Thrice, Strike Anywhere, Senses Fail, Lost Prophets, Comeback Kid, Dark New Day, Killswitch Engage, 36 Crazyfists, Cold, Crossfade.

Or you could just steal her music :P

That's why I called CS post-grunge. I consider it alternative, too, but you see so many classifications out there... I can't stand PJ, either, except for "Black", which I only sorta like ( ... )
