PB: Akito Takagi, from the Bakuman series. I've personally never watched this anime or read the manga, so don't expect Anthony's personality to be too similar! Eventually I'd like to draw my own icons though c: EVENTUALLY.
Appearance: Tall and lanky, and surprising slim despite a nonexistent health regime and a certain lack of exercise. He doesn't get out much, which does show in some aspects; pale skin, horribly sensitive yellowish-brown eyes, and an uncanny lack of normal social graces (not that he doesn't try to be a happy, outgoing fellow). Anthony is practically blind without his red-framed glasses, and the only time one might find him without is if he's sleeping or moseying about the dorm room immediately after waking up in the afternoon (and probably tripping on junk meanwhile)... He can't function without them, so he can only hope that no one is cruel enough to take them.
After this, comes Anthony's mop of a hairstyle. He has thick blond hair that he doesn't bother to take care of, most days. Rarely does he flatten the stray pieces of hair that stick out, or do anything about the thick waves that like to curl in his face -- he just really doesn't care. Anthony is pretty casual, and when he isn't in decent clothes for school (dress shirt, vest, and trousers being the usual get-up), one will generally find him hanging out in a t-shirt and shorts. If that. Honestly if Anthony really had his way, he would be in his underwear 90% of the time.
It's not unusual for his uniform to be curiously out-of-order, with buttons fastened in a way that makes you wonder if he's trying to start a trend - he just has unfortunate coordination. Also of note is that Anthony has a habit of just not even doing the last one or two buttons by his neck, as he claims it feels too constricting. His state of dress is often followed by much fuss from his teachers, and by lunchtime he'll probably be back to looking more like his peers.
Anthony has a rather boyish face, but he looks his age for the most part -- however, his height might throw people off at 5'11", which leaves him hovering over a lot of his peers. He has a relatively slim body shape from sitting at the computer all day (also a horrendous posture thanks to this), and to no one's surprise, he's lacking in much muscle minus the little he's gained from skateboarding. Even then, his sport leaves him more concerned about balance than strength, and he's never quite used it as a hobby so much as a way for getting around faster.
As for facial hair, Anthony wouldn't be able to grow it if he tried.
Personality: Anthony is the type of dorky nerd that one usually imagines as the recipient to swirlies in the bathroom from the jocks. His best friend is his laptop, and he would prefer to stay in the dorm over join clubs and sports.
The teen has a mind that is a complex, interesting, and stupid existence all at once. On the outside, he seems like a fairly simple guy; taking joy in the little things such as video games and computers, hanging out at the dorm and watching movies, etcetera. He likes to laugh, but his sense of humor tends to vary... Usually, one can expect a snort from acts of stupidity and ridiculousness, and more than often, things that other people simply don't get. Otherwise, Anthony is actually fairly oblivious to humor, and may or may not take the joke apart piece by piece and just take the fun out of it, and thus awkward social interactions.
Then again, his social interactions usually are awkward. Anthony is not a private individual, and he has this tendency to run his mouth a little more than necessary... A lot more than necessary. Think of anything socially unacceptable or taboo, and Anthony can probably start a conversation about it (and not see what is wrong). He's grown up with the whole "internet culture" sort of deal, because he does enjoy comics and manga, internet memes and forums, video games -- those sorts of hobbies. The usual.
These are all the things one normally sees from Anthony. This rather irresponsible side, hidden beneath a grin.
However, Anthony is actually really smart, and could probably give most of his teachers a run for their money. Smart enough to skip a grade in elementary school, making him a rather young Junior next to his peers. He actually doesn't spend all of his time hanging out in the apartment doing useless things, contrary to popular belief, but sits around reading from time to time. Mind, when he does study or read, he doesn't sit around doing it for long periods of time, because this guy can't sit still for more than twenty minutes unless his attention is invested into the Playstation. So when he does take time to sit down and get stuff done, it takes ages for him to finish, but the good part about this is that Anthony doesn't forget. Sometimes it comes across as laziness, the way he abandons things, which is really the impression most people get from him in the first place. We can't deny that Anthony isn't a total sloth though, because he does have a certain love for napping and laying around.
Despite it all, Anthony is good at communication, though his wording isn't always the most eloquent, but he almost always has some sort of answer for you. If there isn't a path, he'll come up with one -- somehow. He can be convincing when he wants to be, and he does so rather effortlessly. One should learn not to accept his ideas so readily though, because he can just as easily lead you down the wrong path... He lies a little too easily.
Lastly, this man has an eye for detail, but it's sometimes hard to tell if he's taken note or not. It's really a selective thing; your voice may waver for a fraction of a second, or your posture could change after a comment, and Anthony will notice. He's sneaky like this, and it might bite you in the ass later if he chooses to bring them up. But just because he notices physical or sensory changes does not mean he notices emotional ones. God help him if he realizes that he's being flirted with.
... Emotions are the one thing that are too complex for Anthony to figure out. Creative and spontaneous, Anthony moves forward with power of mind, not soul.
History: Honestly, Anthony's history is rather average; one sister and two parents who are still together and under one roof. A mother that was a biologist and professor, and a father who was an engineer -- not that this gave them much time to spend with their kids, but Anthony has always been pretty cool with that. A guy with unconditional love, really, which hasn't changed much. He's since learned to take care of himself and his sister rather during this time, right after hopping off of the school bus; dishes, cooking (nothing spectacular, but I digress), laundry, fixing buttons...
He's got the basics down. These skills have stuck since living in a dorm, even if his chaotic method leaves something to be desired.
In all, Anthony has grown up without much interaction with his parents, both working complicated shifts and many hours with only a few remaining to sit down and watch TV or eat dinner together. There were plenty of responsibilities, and he lacked in the time to hang out after school making friends, giving him a sort of loner status. It's sad, because Anthony loves people and meeting people and teasing people. Excuse him if he's a little eager to hang out between classes after enrolling in Adessi. At the same time, he also loves holing himself up in his room beating videogames and surfing the web until the wee hours of the morning, so his lack of a social life is brought upon himself in most cases too.
Besides computers and videogames, Anthony did take up skateboarding in his early teens and has kept at it since, though lately it's been more as a means of transportation than any sort of hobby. There's no special story behind the skateboard -- his parents bought it for him as a Christmas gift one year and Anthony accepted the challenge of at least getting to stand on it without falling. He's since earned a few bumps and bruises from it, but can ride the thing without falling at least. Admittedly, he's also earned a few detentions for riding it in the hallways at Adessi.
Other than this, his life has been fairly average, and Anthony is satisfied. Eventually, after succumbing to the fact that Anthony was, in fact, really fucking smart, they decided it would be best to send him to the quality schooling in Abaton. His marks in his classes, particularly math and physics, were soon raising eyebrows with the school board at Adessi Hall, and he was accepted without hassle. Anthony is a little younger than some of his classmates. This is due to him skipping 7th grade in junior high.
Even though he's somewhat socially awkward, Anthony is actually really smart.
