Fortune and Tristan

Today we went off to buy wing plastic from Magnet Mart in Woden. I bought 10m of the stuff so we wouldn't have to buy it for the next decade or so, especially given how much the price of plastic has gone up. Chatting to the guy measuring and cutting it for us, I said I was getting it for making wings, and apparently he makes wands and staffs (

Tristan is a little boy all of a month younger than Violet (he's about 7.5 months old now). At 4 months old he was diagnosed as having an extremely agressive variety of brain cancer. It's got maybe a 10% survival rate, especially in children as young as he is. Many treatments are not available to the family at all thanks to how young Tristan is, and it's just a heart-wrenching thing for the family to be going through. I met his mum through an online forum, we went through our latest pregnancies together and that online community has really pulled together over the months to help the family out. (We raised $1000US in 3 or 4 days just from community donations).

He's had surgery to remove two brain tumours, and is now onto his second round of chemo. The latest MRI showed some seeding in his spine, but not as bad as the previous MRI appeared, and he thankfully hasn't had any new tumours grow during his chemo.
