one thing: it will rain!
so do make sure you take the closed shoes too, and some trousers that don't drag on the ground or a skirt you can wear with them.

what kind of skirt? would denim be okay, or should i look for something a bit dressier?

denim's fine. anything is fine. honestly, nobody will care what you're wearing as long as it's not like weird tourist shorts and a baseball cap :)

oh yeah, and who the hell said londoners don't wear jeans?
admittedly i have very limited experience of visiting the US, but from what i saw it seems like the things people wear in the UK are kind of more heterogeneous. walking down the street in london, you'll see all sorts of clothes and all sorts of people. so i would say, wear what the hell you like :)

of course there are some people in london who wear jeans, but it's true that way way fewer people do than here. turth be told, i would def. pick slacks over jeans, but you're going to be doing touristy things and going touristy places. as long as you're not running around in a fanny pack and a visor screaming your head off then you won't look like the typical american :)

no fanny packs, no visors...EVER!

honestly, there are so many articles of clothing that should be outlawed, for everyone, everywhere...

When I went, we were all wearing jeans and shorts (cause it was HOT, can you beleive that?) and we obviously looked like tourists.

We were told BLACK. Black, black black. Mostly because it's versatile, but also because you get dirty. Everything gets dirty (you'll have black boogers after a day or two). So you can probably get more wear out of darker colors.

And, it doesn't look like you're bringing atheletic shoes....which in lots of places (mostly clubs/pubs) are a no-no, so you're good there.

I'm jealous, London rules. Go to Tate Modern - AWESOME building.

hehee; i haven't had black boogers in ages...the last time was after a night of clubbing, i think!

psh, jeans are fine! And to be honest if your going to be hanging around the touristy places people are going to know your a tourist just because people who actually live in London hardly go to those. Its really sad. I wear jeans all the time and never feel out of place or look any different from anyone else.

i don't mind people knowing i'm a tourist, and an american. i just don't want to be one of the scary ones! it's nice to know a pair of jeans won't make me stick out like a sore thumb. :)
