The last day of school/work was June 22nd.  There was sadness in the leaving but I guess I didn't hit despair until finding out that I didn't get the job that I wanted at the zoo.  Knowing that a job like that was out there had kept depressed feelings about the future at bay because it seemed so promising.  And even if that job specifically didn't ( Read more... )

1. Lie in bed and moan about how if it's this hot at 8 am that today is going to suck
2. Leave rats with a frozen nalgene bottle and hope that they're smart enough to lie next to it (they were - after thorough investigation of and competition for the lone paper towel I had placed under it)

Lux was put to sleep this afternoon and buried in Jonwa's yard.  He was a complete sweetie, especially to the students he had to work with.  He was adopted from the pound at about 6 mos. of age about two years ago (which makes him old for a rat).  It was due to the usual rat respiratory problems and I probably would have let him go a month ago ( Read more... )
