Mountain View is nice. It's also expensive. Lots of Google money propping up real estate prices, rent, et cetera. Just a heads-up.

well there'd be three of us in a two bedroom, and TJ's salary at Lockheed is pretty nice right now. If i get the job at Cold Craft we could probably afford it, and Mt. View would let TJ sleep an extra hour in the morning, plus save on daily train fair. I think we could probably handle it, I hope. an extra hour in the morning to sleep would be so nice. Thanks for the heads up though, :)

maybe Sunnyvale would be a good compromise? TJ trains and bikes to work, and we live in San Jose on the border of Willow Glen right now, so it's an hour and a half at least each way. I know TJ wants to live in Mt. View, because it's a nice place and he wouldn't be as paranoid about our stuff getting stolen (seriously, if you heard about that rape in san jose at that apartment building where the teenage girl saved the little kid when her neighbor came into her apartment all covered in blood, that's the building we live in. we need to get out)

If you can afford it and it's what you want, then you should rent whatever makes sense for you.

I'd caution you to do your due diligence, though. Mt. View has some shady areas, and if you're moving for a nice neighborhood, you'd want to avoid them.

Do you want to make a four year commitment?

i think I'm ready to, but do I WANT to? not really. though, if i were going to be making a four year commitment to anyone, TJ's family is probably the right place to do it.

Now ask yourself these questions:

Is the pay outrageously stupendously great?

Is the job enjoyable and are the skills learned or used on the job important to you?

If the job should happen to not work out, would it be awkward for you and his family?

I say do it. I'm thinking about taking a job waayyyy closer to my house (and more $) but this will entail questionable hours and just overall CRAZY at the workplace. I think I'm just gona suck it up and do it. We can be nervous and freaking out together! :D
