eh, there's not really a very big difference between republicans and democrats anyway. And if you live in California it doesn't really matter if you vote because it's going to Obama no matter what.
I second the fact that California is going for Obama. And I strongly encourage you to vote for a third party if that better represents your views. And, if you truly a vote for anyone other than Obama is a vote for McCain, I would argue that no vote whatsoever is also a vote for McCain.
I agree with greg. If you don't want to vote for bam bam or the pow, then go 3rd party. I don't like bam bam and I don't like palin really. both need more experience. i kind of want to go 3rd party myself.
So I get the whole let's-be-honest-here-we're-not-electing-the-people-running-for-preseident-because-they'll-probably-be-dead-anyway. More or less, I agree. I think McCain has maybe a 50/50 shot of becoming unfit to preside as chief citizen, and Obama stands a really decent chance of being assassinated, as ugly as that sounds.
But how can you not draw a conclusion between Palin and Biden? They're so radically different, I don't see how you could possibly avoid a preference between the two.
PS- The "a vote for anyone but X is a vote for Y" thing is just propaganda. It's all paradigm-dependent. You could say the inverse and have it be just as retarded of a statement.
it's like picking between black nad white, when what i want is ice cream. it isn't even a freaking color man! it's a FOOD! that's how different what I want from what I'd get is.
Which is why I'm pretty skeptical about the whole process in general. Perhaps I SHOULD get involved in the propositions, as they ARE more community-specific. But I just get the feeling that the 'smokescreen' and propaganda effects can't just be for the larger politicians. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't we voted for propositions that, once enacted, didn't actually do what we thought they would, or required more money than they said they would? I have to admit I'm dreadfully uninformed about all of it, but I've also been witness to the argument that FEELING informed is quite misleading. In fact, it's brought me to question the nature of 'news' and whether we should be presented with issues we have no knowledge of beforehand.
Did I mention I want Ice Cream, too?roland_deschainOctober 9 2008, 00:36:22 UTC
Cuz yeah. "Who told me Black or White was a way to choose anyway? I was thinking about food. Why are we talking about colors? Oh, cuz it's important. Damn, I wish they could translate these into something I could eat."
