Oh yeah so it’s 2012 now. AMAZING STUFF. But you know what that means, dear LJ-readers - a belated post All About 2011. This time presented in two lists!
ALL ABOUT 2011: THE RUBBISH LIST
1. My 18 year-old cousin died in a car crash.
2. The DRAMA of finding a new tenant for my old flat a few months back when WATER began gushing out of the CEILING.
3. The GREAT BRISBANE FLOODS OF So-You-Thought-If-You-Lived-Through-The-1974-Flood-That-You’d-Never-See-Anything-Like-It-Again-And-Therefore-Will-Abuse-The-Term-Surreal.
ALL ABOUT 2011: THE AWESOME LIST
(In no particular order, probably mostly chronological though).
1. Jimmy Eat World live at the Tivoli, April.
2. Boy in A Box and City Riots supporting British India at The Zoo (BI were pretty balls though).
3. Owl City at the Tivoli with Berni, thanks to FREE TICKETS.
4. Coheed and Cambria both at Soundwave and at the Tiv.
5. Getting a scholarship from King’s College for 2012.
6. Getting a travel grant from my own uni for 2012.
7. Being a confirmed candidate!
8. (And now it’ll be obvious that this really is in no particular order) BRIGHT EYES. At the Hi Fi Melbourne.
9. BRIGHT EYES. At Harvest.
10. BRIGHT EYES. At the Hi Fi Brisbane.
11. Visiting Derek and Tara and Ruby.
12. Meeting up with Anneke FINALLY OMG
13. Clearing out my goddamn wardrobe.
14. Foo Fighters flood fundraising gig at the Riverstage
15. The Wombats at the Riverstage. Never thought rocking out with appalling indie kid dance moves in a crowd of mainly loser teenagers while (sort of) trying to keep out of the mud as it’d just rained like crazy would be so much fun.
16. Finishing all my stupid 100 hours of Learner driving. Jesus freaking Christ that took for ages to get all done on the weekends.
17. Moving into my new flat! It does not have mould!
18. Realising that I can see Roddy Woomble LIVE in THE UK on my BIRTHDAY in 2012 and consequentially crying hysterically.
19. Meeting Isobelle Carmody.
20. Being really, really awesome, obviously.
So basically, not too much bad stuff happened, and I went to a lot of gigs. Top result for 2011 I think!
I don’t really do resolutions, and following from
copperbadge, have made PLANS.
PLAN THE FIRST: Enjoy my three months in the UK. I may be living in Willesden, which I have more or less worked out to be sort of equivalent to living in Redbank (Brisbane folk will understand, if your place of origin is different just imagine a middle to low income area), but it should be still okay. I’m planning on going to Lord’s (due to cricket tragic-ness), Wimbledon (due to tennis tragic-ness), Bath (due to Jane Austen), Brighton, IRELAND (particularly County Kerry, or anywhere that isn’t extensively metropolitan), Scotland (mainly I just want to go walking there, am guessing the constant castles and whatnot will be quite wearing after a while), and to Cardiff. RECOMMEND ME THINGS TO DO/SEE WHATEVS.
PLAN THE SECOND: Perhaps try some different restaurants in Brisbane. Seriously, I only ever go to the same Thai place, the same Indian place and that’s about it. (Yes, I like curry. What of it).
PLAN THE THIRD: Complete mid-candidature review milestone in a “timely manner” (for my money, I am assuming this means within three months of the date the Grad School says they want me to complete it).
PLAN THE FOURTH: Be AWESOME-R. If possible.
