TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY (film)
I went to see this film on a Friday morning, with what seemed like every single pensioner in Stafford. So I sat up the front, where there was actually seats that I could sit in without being riiight next to the old people. Yeah.
Seriously, if you haven't seen this film, and you like movies with Actual Plots and Good Acting and No Stupid Music, go and see TTSS. It was amazing. I walked out thinking "omg, that was freaking FLAWLESS". So. Good. Gary Oldman is amazing. They are all amazing. I was happily surprised with how much screen time Benedict Cumberbatch got, as I hadn't read the book beforehand I just assumed that he'd be playing a relatively minimal character. This has been relatively sane up until now, but please prepare for omg Peter's three piece suit was freaking amazing, what great costuming detail and when he had his collar up on his coat I was all "bahaha Sherlock" and then realised that yes, his neck really does look weird without a popped collar.
ER YES. Dude is going to win Oscars eventually. Calling it now. Such a good actor. I was really impressed with his scene in the circus with (what I'm dubbing) EVERY AMAZING BRITISH ACTOR EVER (MOSTLY), and I mean, if you can act in a scene with all those amazing men and be on-par with them, well damn, you're good. (I really should have titled this "Katie has a rant about how amazing Benedict Cumberbatch is"). Probably my favourite shot of the film was the elevator moving down to show Guillam standing outside. I really wanted to have the ability to re-wind and watch that again in the cinema, but alas, no luck.
The soundtrack was amazing. I really really liked it, and it made me want to go home and practice some modernist piano pieces. This is actually Amazingly High Praise because very little makes me want to practice piano. Er.
Buying this on DVD when it's released for sure.
