How I Spent The Blizzard

Feb 03, 2011 18:03

My absence from here these last few days has a pretty decent excuse ... I was at the hospital with Cole. If you aren't my friend on fb or twitter then you had no idea, because I basically used those sites to communicate with everyone what was going on. When Sam stopped by our hospital room Tuesday night right before the "blizzard" I asked him to ( Read more... )

Hospital/being sick is usually harder on the parents than the kids. I'm glad they figured it out eventually. That hospital sounds awful. Poor Cole. Here's to a speedy recovery!

I guess I can't complain to you though. You know a lot more about the problems w/ hospitals than I would.

What an awful experience. I am glad he is getting better though. That is the important part.

I got onto Twitter halfway through what was happening halfway so I didn't say anything. I'm glad to hear he's got a treatable diagnosis and you're back home. It sounds like an awful experience.

I know Toledo is way close and Ann Arbor is an hour away, but if something comes up again and you don't want to go back to that place, the University of Michigan is one of the best hospitals nearby, and they have a children's hospital, Mott. An hour's too far for emergencies I'm sure, but if you have to stay overnight it might be worth the drive. (Bonus, it's right off the freeway).

My doctor recommended U of M for my next pregnancy since I always seem to end up being high risk. Before I could even point out that its an hour drive, she told me the drive would be worth it, especially when it came time for the hospital stay at birth :p

My friend actually works at UofM and it would have been nice, because she works midnights in the maternity section. She was working the night I got sent to the hospital with Cole. I went to Toledo, because that was the hospital the pediatricians office worked with. I tell you what it would have been nice to be able to go to UofM.

I'm glad he's doing better and the scariness is over.

Having to take Guin to the hospital for me was probably one of the scariest experiences of my life although we only had to run her for a blood test (and she screamed bloody murder when the tech drew her blood). She had a high fever for a couple of days which started to worry us so the on-call pediatrician wanted to rule out the more serious causes for that.

Ugh when they tried to draw blood it was awful. He kept screaming my name and crying out. Just awful.

Your icon is perfect for that situation.
