Went to the Apple store today to see if they still had any of the new iPhones in stock because I've decided to take the plunge and found out that they're out as of today.  When asked about availability at other stores in the area, the guy hemmed and hawed then surprisingly offered to call another store to see if they still had any left since it was

Yes, fuck you apple store guy. What a shithead. That happens to me sometimes. The one time that always stands out in my mind is years ago when I went to the shore with Jen for a weekend, we were walking into a store and the male employee by the door just stood there when I walked in, she came in behind me and for her he opened the door, greeted her, asked her if he could help with anything. Me? He ignored totally.

With rudeness like that, is it any wonder we prefer the internet to dealing with that shit!

You should have insisted on speaking to the manager - there is NO excuse for that sort of behavior from an employee, especially one whose job is customer service/retail sales. What you asked for was completely reasonable and well within the duties of his job description.

I doubt highly you did anything to him to warrent such rude, unprofessional behavior. I mean, honestly - you could have been covered in outer space ooze and he still should have been polite to you and did his job! Even if something is out of stock, yes, he could have called other stores or at least given you some estimate on when they might receive their next shipment.

I don't suppose you remember the guy's name - if you do, you should absolutely call the manager tomorrow! If he treated you like that, he's likely treated others that way, and that's bad business for that store (and the people who employ him should know that they are not getting even the bare minimum for the salary they are paying him).
