i see. the only word that comes to mind is repose. sleep, calm, quiet rest. A nap, a long ride away from gloomy eugene and all of its misery, love/solace/ignorance, quiet mind, restful sleep, radiohead motion picture soundtrack, sunny days in this cloudy cloudy place. this is totally my favorite word. repose.
paul bowles, yes yes! it is insane that you have read this book and have been caught by the same sentence. That paragraph in that book kills my soul, its what makes this word resonate in my mind! heavens. I even made a myspace blog about it, because i am a loser. but it reflected the same sentiments. His words are so rich and mindnumbing.
Memory. Fading, pale, creamy and soft... or dark, dim, shadowy and irretrievable. What has past is gone. The future is a brick wall in your face..there is no looking forward. The past is a broken bridge behind you, falling away into oblivion. You stand in the river which flows ceaselessly about your feet, and you inhabit finite space. Time washes over and through you and leaves you behind. You struggle pitifully and fruitlessly to see beyond your limits..then at some point you cease to exist and time washes you away.
light. direct, calming, violent, dependable. when we have the strength to identify with our inner light, and to direct it at this life of ours, shadow melts away and darkness ceases to be found. all that's left is illumination.
