Man, cats can be a pain in the ass - literally! My old man Chango bolted out this summer and we couldn't find him for almost two weeks. I was sure he was dead, we looked all over, walked in the miserable heat and called all over....
He finally came back in the middle of the night and my daughter let him in, SO glad, but omg. It was awful, the little jerk. And he still looks longingly out the door when i go out.
Haha, Becker totally fits that bill, and we've done that exact same thing! We lived next to a river at the time he got out then, so I was convinced he was either smushed on the side of the road (we looked) or drowned in the river (never would have found the body).
Turned out he was hiding out in the skeevy run-down abandoned apartment complex next to us. Little asshole.
Haha, it actually was dinner time. And as much as I make noises about leaving him out there, we really can't. We live next to a busy road, and he has FIP besides. Damned brat.
Feline infectious peritonitis. It usually kills a cat within a year, but Becker has the dubious honor of having lived for 5 years after his diagnosis. Our cats are vaccinated, but there are other cats from our complex that wander out there.
