it feels strange to be here this time... like i've let go or something. like i've finally started living my life in california and no longer long for the comfort of home. it almost seems like its not home anymore. i am a visitor. maybe it feels funny because hobbes isn't here anymore. no wiggling butt and dog slobber and happy face to see me

thats something i always think is weird out in living out here. its weird for me to look around here and think that all these people, all this architecture, all this crap, just *showed up* here in the past 100 years or so. on the east coast it seemed so much more logical that big cities and sprawling farmhouses and such were the work of four hundred of years of imigrants building on what came before.

now that i'm getting comfortable here (and despite the past week of rain) its starting to seem weirder that all those people *stayed* in that part of the country.
