The Dresden Dolls the other night were amazing, i can't shut up about it.

This was my first intro to the Dresden Dolls. I was reminded of Morrissey. Is that so wrong? *love the smiths*

Nope, they are inspired by bands like the Smiths. I've heard Amanda, (piano and singer) talk about Morrissey. Funny, beacuse Brian (Drummer) is from Heavy Metal roots, then he hooks up with Amanda and her intrests and the rest is history. They are very WWII inspired as well, very German Cabaret feeling. And I love the 40s so I think that's why I latched on. They have strange and interesting songs as well, including songs about Sex Change Operations, Coin Operated Boys (sex toys), Child abuse, Sex abuse, Back-Alley abortions, masturbation, being medicated, etc. Sounds creepy, but they approach all these topics with this child like innocence and tounge-and-cheek additude and I think that's why I like it. One of my favorite songs is called "Mrs. O", It's based on Amanda talking to a Holocoust survivor who denies the whole thing happened and the song is just stimulates visuals and very powerful. My favorite line is "There's no hell and no Hiroshima/No winter and no Santa Clause/ And Yes Virgina all because the Truth wont save you now" the ( ... )
