You know, if occurs to me...you have a legion (well, good number) of willing buddies that would gladly help you in your crusade for writing excellence. You also have an energy deficit and the inability to split yourself like Multiple Man. This being the case, perhaps a good short term strategy is to create a whisper campaign with your prolific friends on their jaunts into the Intertubes. It drums up interest in your novel, is a draw for those who wish to know more and then you also have word of mouth starting. All with only a little effort on your part. Ripples, my friends, ripples

You know, dude, I think you nailed it exactly: what I really need is a montage sequence!
No, but seriously, thanks so much for the cold water and common sense. It all gets so massive in my head - seeing it from somebody else's perspective is a huge help. And trying to do EVERYthing myself is probably both dumb and unnecessary - it's just... y'know, dude, we're at that age where pretty much *all* of us are habitually up to our eyeballs, and I never want to be the person who adds more to somebody else's load. (Conversely, I suppose asking everybody to each take one bite out of the elephant wouldn't be too dire an imposition - damn you and your over-apt metaphors!)
Well, I'm going to do it, John Carter style! And I am SO dang lucky to have an elephant-eating pro for a friend. Thanks hugely for the attagirls, man, and good luck with your own ongoing feast - college definitely prepared us for this much at least!
Ach, Tex. I read these posts and wonder if you're a better lizard boy than me.
The solution is quite easy. If you're overwhelmed by the whole of it, start with one. One Twitter, or one forum, or one feed. When that's going, add another. And then, maybe you make some forum friends that have Twitter, or some Twitter friends who can point you towards uber cool forums or groups. Maybe they'll even be cool enough to introduce you around. Maybe you can introduce them around. If it becomes too much to handle, say so. Real friends understand, and real writers would probably not only understand, but try to send you casseroles and barf bags and boxes of cool aloe Kleenex. And then believe them, and back off for awhile while still maintaining a presence. Lurk. Comment if it moves you. And when you're ready to go back, do so

Haha, sorry to be such a prodigious crapbag, man - I know you and Borkowski have my back no matter what.
But thanks so much for helping me get a to-do list together - sometimes the hardest part is just figuring out where and how to start. So what I'll do is:
1. Blog post/comments today 2. Emails tomorrow & Monday 3. Forums next week (AW first, NaNo if there's time)
I'm tempted to put more on there, but I guess it's better to go for bonus productivity than pull my hair out for failure. No need to blanket the greater Twin Cities area just yet, but don't be surprised if crop-duster planes start dropping chicchas on Minnetonka at large - I owe you SO hard!
