in which Piyo speaks about the weather, upcoming holiday and books

Mother Nature has decided to let the rain stay.  Not that I mind at all, because hey, I love the rain.  Nothing beats sitting inside, curled up in bed with a good book, watching tv or playing a game, while listening to the pitter patter of water falling outside.  Although, having it pour cats and dogs while there is crazy fast winds and then having ( Read more... )

books, weather: rainy, holiday: christmas

I'm sorry you're holidays with your family haven't gone the way you'd hoped so far. :'( But your visit with your friends sounds lovely! I agree with them, the Pokemon games ARE crazy addictive. If you have any form of OCD you should probably stay away from them, since there's TONS of stuff to do on those games. I still play the ones I got back when I was like, 10.

'll have to remember to pass on the short story collection if I happen upon it in Borders next. :)

But The Bookman sounds like something I'd probably enjoy I think! I'm incredibly drawn to steampunk-y stuff.

The only plus about not getting together with said family above is that I might actually get to spend Christmas with my Dad and my sister. My family is having issues at the moment with each other, so in the end I'll be able to spend all my time with two people who are important to me.

And seriously! I've only just started playing the Pokemon game and don't know what to do with myself. I never really played video games before, only my cousin's old hand-me-down ancient gameboy, so this is not only fun but new. And I don't feel too bad when I don't play very well and lose, hee.

Steampunk is the best. I had always enjoyed it, but didn't really know what it was or that it was steampunk (which, happens to a lot of people). A lot of what I've been reading lately has been something along those lines, so I'm all over it. I'll let you know how The Bookman turns out.

And, speaking of books, it's always fun when I add something to GoodReads and see that you've either already read it or have marked it To-Read. :)

That's good, at least! Although I'm sorry that your family is having issues with one another. That's never good to hear. :'(

It's really fun once you figure out how to balance your team out and plan their move sets. I used to just level up one Pokemon and plow through the game, then get stuck when I got to the gym where my start Pokemon's type was at a disadvantage. I got SoulSilver the day it came out and had a preplanned team this time. I might just reset every time I loose, but shhh. You should totally check out Harvest Moon games and the Professor Layton series. Layton especially, it plays out like a really really good book.

It was the same with me, when I first saw Treasure Planet I was hooked. I found out later (maybe through fic?) what the genre actually was.
I noticed we had a lot of similar stuff on our GoodReads accounts too! :P Only I haven't updated mine in FOREVER. I always love your book choices. xD

Yeah, what sucks the most is that I'm in the middle of the issues, but I'm not part of it. It's like my family is split down the middle, and I'm the only one who is still speaking to both parties. It's not fun.

I've heard of the Professor Layton series. I have a feeling I'm going to get sucked in to so many different games. But, at this point, that's a good thing, hee.

I tend to surf the bookshelves of all my friends on GoodRead, seeing what they've read, are reading or want to read. We all have a lot in common, so this way I have a good iead on what to look for next. Me, I read a little of everything, and if you find fun things on my lists, all I can say is YEAYS!

I'm reading nothing currently, but I finished "The Great God Pan" by Donna Jo Napoli and it was AWESOME! I already loved "Sirena". A mermaid story mixed with Greek mythology. One of the best books ever! I really should read more stuff written by her.

I think I'll start "An Enchanted Season" with four short stories about paranormal romances soon.

P.S.: I'm currently listening TSfH: Illumina: Shipwrecked!!! ;)

I've read Sirena way back when. I think I still have my copy, although it happens to be packed away in a box, :( One day I will have my own place with plenty of room for all of my books! Anyway, I really did enjoy that book.

P.S.
I'm currently listening to TSfH: Power of Darkness: Power of Darkness!

One can never have enough space for books! In around three years, Sabina and I will move again, too. And then we'll have an extra room only for our DVDs and books. *is excited*

I wasn't feeling super Christmassy until like yesterday. That happens to me a lot mind you.

Ooh selkies? Sounds awesome, but I'm not hugely into romance books which that one sounds like it could be leaning towards. The Bookman sounds VERY interesting mind you.

I'm currently reading Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. I've been getting more and more into him after only having read Misery before. I'm nearly done and its been awesome. A bit of a gore fest, but the characters are amazing and I do not where Mr King gets his ideas from. They so are detailed! I think over Christmas I'll move onto the comics I have waiting to be read. I'm always so busy its sometimes hard to concentrate on a big novel.

I think what it might be is that I've just been too busy to just sit back and enjoy the season. I've been pretty stressed out lately, which doesn't help, but I know once Christmas day comes, I'll feel better.

I never saw myself as someone who read romance novels, but I have read a few, and the ones I have read have all had a paranormal spin (and if there are mermaids or selkies or the like, I will read it, no matter what it is, I'm that much of an obsessed dork, XD), and weren't too bad. Tempest Rising wasn't considered a romance, only a scifi/fantasy, which might have been a reason I didn't care for it. If I had wanted a romance novel I would have gotten one, you know?

Ooo, I've never read any Stephen King. Any favorites or suggestions?

Yeah I hate that when a book is filed under a certain category or the synopsis is a bit misleading.

I've only read three of his books so far. Cell, which was amazing. Misery, I read years ago and need to read again. And Dreamcatcher, which I am like 60 pages away from finishing! I have Under the Dome on my bookshelf. I think that'll be next after my comics :D

Hm, I think I'll have to see about adding some King to my Wishlist/To-Read pile. Give him a try.

I know what you mean about trying to get into the Christmas spirit. I'm plagued by a lot of stress lately, and I've been thinking a lot about how the "magic" has left Christmas since the Truth of Santa became reality. However, I got your card with the surprise inside :D Via prompting from my mother, I opened it early (scandalous!) and was thrilled to see the Sora charm! I had been eying that one for a while! THANK YOU! ::super glomp:: Your Christmas happy is on its way, so I hope it gets to you on time.

Congrats on the DS! I love mine ... currently distracted by my PSP, though, to play Birth By Sleep!

Yeah, I completely understand. I've been so stressed out and so busy I haven't been able to just relax and enjoy this time of the year for what it is. I love Christmas, and love being able to spend time with friends and family and just be happy, but there has been so much going on lately that it's been hard to.

And yeays for your card! How funny I got you something you wanted, hee. I went shopping with a friend of mine and saw it and thought it was too cute. Any time I see anything Sora or Kingdom Hearts I always think of you.

I'm excited with my DS! It's still pretty new to me, I've only ever played with an ancient gameboy before. But I LOVE it!
