Happy New Year!!!

I hope everyone had a great 2010 and I wish you all the best for 2011.  This year has had many ups and downs, good times and bad times, and I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you for being there with smiles, laughs and hugs whenever they were needed.

For me, one of the biggest things in 2010 was books.  I set a ( Read more... )

From what you've said - I would love the Parasol Protectorate series. I have to check them out as soon as I finish up my to-read list. *ugh*

I really do love that series. It's so much fun, and there are so many characters to fall in love with. If and when you do get around to them, I hope you like them!

And ugh, to-read lists. I think right now I have about 25 books sitting on a shelf waiting for me to get to.

I'm sure I will! I might not be the biggest vampire fan on the block, but you really can't go wrong with steampunk. ^_~

TELL ME ABOUT IT. D: It doesn't help that I keep getting new books from friends, and I got addicted to a manga series that's like. . . thirty volumes long or something ridiculous. So many books, so little time.

A wonderful entry, Dana! I couldn't stop drooling about all those book covers! And yeah, I can also see, that we have many books in common! *cough cough* I wonder how's that possible? *looks innocently*

And happy you, for meeting authors! I guess, that's the luck of working in a book store, eh? I can't tell you how envious we are! I mean, being such a bookworm and then working in one! How awesome is that? And please don't tell me you're getting reductions! That would be my downfall!!! *lol*

Yeah yeah, don't go looking all innocent, I completely blame you for you-know-what, XD But I figured putting up pictures would be more fun than just typing out everything I read, easier to look at this way, plus so much pretty cover art.

The author signings have been really fun, but I went to them before I got my job at the bookstore. GoodReads has a section where you can look to see if there are going to be any events in your area, so I am always checking. That, and I go to the author's personal site to check there. But so far, each author I've met has been very nice and friendly. Especially Gail Carriger, she has a blog here on Lj.

And what do you mean, reductions?

I think another word is discount. e.g. I work in a vet office and whenever I order medications I get a discount, because I'm a vet nurse. So maybe it'd be the same for you. You're a book seller. So if you'd buy a book in your store you get a dicount of maybe 10%. You now what I mean?

Oooh, I don't know what I was thinking. But yes, I get a discount, and a little better than 10%. But, surprisingly, I haven't really bought too many for myself, more gifts, really, for the holidays. If it looks like they are going to let me go after the holidays (*crosses fingers they don't*) I might just have to stock up on cheap books!

So far I've already read five books, but it's a little more like four and a half, because one was an unfinished read from last year. Apparently, I have no life and a lot of time on my hands, lol. That, or I'm just a fast reader.
