So, you can save a bit of cash by switching off from CT Light & Power. A few years ago, I had a different supplier, then they disappeared and it seemed like there wasn't a lot of competition. But apparently, there is a lot. Here's a page where you can enter your energy usage and it'll tell you how much you'll save with another supplier. Probably ( Read more... )

Well, that's cheaper than I had seen - 10.6% more expensive than Cl&P. But its still 29.9% more expensive than the lowest fixed rate that I could find at Levco Energy / Dominion. http://www.ctenergyinfo.com/display_rates.htm for more details.

It is still encouraging that you can buy clean energy for anywhere near traditional source cost. I used to get my from Green Mountain energy, but I think they don't serve CT any more. It is an interesting product - people pay more for the same amount of power, willingly. It helps to drive the costs down, over time, but I wonder if it is more effective to take that money and put it into something else related, such as investment in solar research or something...?
