Leo Valdez hadn’t spent much time at Camp Jupiter but he was sure of one thing. Reyna was the girl for him.

One might argue that they barely knew each other, that they had just met but Leo couldn’t bring himself to care about any of this. From the moment he had stepped off the Argo II he had eyes only for her. Not that she had noticed of course she was too busy looking at Jason.

Not that that’s still the case- thought Leo with a slight smile.

Leo wasn’t entirely sure what it was about her that had drawn him in, besides the obvious of course of her being drop dead gorgeous. But it was more than just that.. Leo had always thought that nothing was sexier than power and Reyna radiated power. Even before she talked, just by the way she held herself and walked towards them he knew she was a force to reckon with.

At first she had thought him of him only as that silly little Greek who seemed obsessed with her. Eventually she had come around, after what seemed like the 328 time he asked her she finally said yes. Leo wasn’t stupid; he knew he was a rebound. Jason had made his choice and Reyna was just trying to move on, but in all reality that made no difference to Leo. A pity date was better than no date. It wasn’t a big affair, they were just going to “New Rome” on a sort of coffee run. They sat at the café and though at first all she did was look bored she eventually warmed up and he finally got her to smile! After their “date they decided to take the long way back to the barracks walking along the bank of “The little Tiber.”

Reyna looked stunning that night, she had traded in praetors cape for a modest white dress that flowed down her body and stopped just above her knees and roman looking sandals. Her long black hair was flowing behind her with the wind and it looked so soft that Leo had to physically restrain himself from touching it. Her face seemed calm but her eyes reflected pain and worry. Leo wanted to ask her what was wrong... but he knew better.

He made small talk, how the co-camp trainings were going and how they were off to Rome by the end of the month. Even though Reyna wasn’t one of the prophetic seven she was going along as were plenty of the other campers. She was an interesting case. She seemed wise beyond her years but so fragile and innocent at the same time. Leo thought she was kind of like Morse code. Hard to learn and understand but once you got to it, not kind of sort of but REALLY got it, well it turned into this spectacular world of possibilities.

That first night instead of trying to ask her what was wrong or talk about Jason he had simply taken a risk and grabbed her hand. She went stiff all over but after a few seconds she had relaxed and held his hand in turn. It had felt amazing, walking under the moonlight holding an amazing girl's hand. That’s when he knew it. She would be worth the process it took to get her. Now less than a month later they were dating regularly. With a smile he remembered the previous night. While they were a known couple around camp Reyna was strange about PDA.

Last night had been the final council meeting before their departure to Rome and right after the meeting was over Reyna had gotten up from her chair and walked straight to him put her arms around him pulling him close and kissed him scare on the lips. If nothing he had been shocked it wasn’t their first kiss but it was their first kiss in public everything went really quite but after a few tense second he heard Percy laugh and shout, “Hey Reyna if you can kiss Leo in the senate house you have to stop complaining about my overbearing relationship with Annabeth!”

Leave it to Percy to crack a joke at just the right moment. Reyna just smiled let go of him keeping only his hand. Looking back now he was glad he hadn’t given up. Sure Morse code wasn’t exactly easy but it sure was worth it.
