Most of his yearmates didn't notice, to be sure, but Regulus hardly fell into that category. He tended to pay attention to what his friends were up to. And not only had Peter been in a surprisingly good mood since that little show at dinner last week, but he'd been keeping something going in that book, which was new.
He'd been waiting for a chance to ask about it, but given the inter-house tensions at work, such chances were hard to come by. But that was the nice thing about the outdoors; it made for more or less neutral territory.
So when he saw Peter with the new book once again, he headed over. "You've been writing in that thing all week. Are you plotting a follow-up to last week's performance or something?"

"...Don't tell me you're suddenly angling to take over the world. I don't think we've got the holding capacity for two attempts at once."
Besides, he wasn't sure Peter could sustain a full-blown takeover.

"Please," said Peter with a snort. "What would I do with the world if I had it? Besides, we've had attempted world takeovers every thirty to forty years or so for the past couple of hundred years. It's really getting monotonous. If you're going to do something drastic, make it original!"
