A/N: OH MY GOD YOU GUYS, I AM SO FREAKIN SORRY ABOUT DISAPPEARING FOR A MONTH…I knew I said that I wouldn’t be able to post for a few days, but somehow, with school starting and all that drama, I did not have any time to write/post. That may be why this chapter is kinda…choppy, but it took so long to get it as good as it is now, and I don’t think I can do anything else for it. Despite the crappiness, I hope you guys like it!
3 days.
That was how long it had been since their family had been torn apart once more. How long it had been since anyone had let out a genuine smile, a boisterous laugh, a happy expression of some sort. No one had expected anything like this, and the manager must have understood that this was wreaking havoc in their hearts because he hadn’t made them attend their schedules. He had not even been in touch with them since the fateful day when their family had been ripped apart once again. And ripped apart it was…the entire band stood divided, whether they acknowledged it or not. They all blamed each other for it, even though deep down they knew they all must have had a part in it, no matter how small. Some would even say that they had seen it coming, but really, they hadn’t.
Gone was the anger and resentment they had felt at the fact that yet another one of them had managed to get free. Now all that remained were the memories that made them feel his absence everywhere. It was hard not to miss him when they noticed the belongings of his that had become fixtures in their lives, like Ddangkoma and her tank, missing. But it was so much harder when they noticed the things that were still there, the clothes, the photo frames, the group albums, the things that Yesung had forgotten and left behind…forgotten and left behind. Just like them.
They hadn’t thought they were going to have to deal with this again, not so soon after Hankyung’s departure anyway. Only this time around it was worse. Even though they had experienced the dull throbbing in their hearts before, the days where they would wish they could go back and change whatever it was they had done to drive their friend away, the second time around they were all so much worse. Worse, because instead of getting used to the pain, they had come to be highly sensitive to it. Instead of learning to ignore it, they grew unable to accept it. Once was bad enough, but for it to happen a second time? Were they that unpleasant to be with?
The tension in the dorms was as bad as it had been right after their debut, only this time it was made worse by the lack of not just one, but TWO of the people who had helped them resolve those conflicted feelings, helped them overlook each others’ faults and allowed them to work towards their ultimate goal- to bring fame to Super Junior’s name.
Days seemed to fade into each other, distinguished only by the number of times someone said something that unintentionally, or maybe even intentionally, pissed someone else off and started pointless but brutal arguments. When they fought it was like they had forgotten what they loved about each other, like the only thing they wanted was to replace the emotional ache they felt inside with something visible, some physical pain that would allow them to keep their wits about them and ensure that they weren’t going crazy.
But there were good days too, days where they could try to ignore that very pain and focus on something lighthearted, something, ANYTHING, to distract themselves. Today started out as one of those good days…
“Kyuhyun-ah! Has Zhou Mi gotten you addicted to those silly dramas too? Wait until everyone hears that Game Kyu was getting teary because of a corny show” Sungmin laughed, trying to see the window the other man had tried to hide when he had seen him walk into the room.
“It’s none of your business, leave it alone!” Kyuhyun growled out, trying to edge away from Sungmin’s grabby hands.
“Awww come on! Let me see. It’s not like you were watching porn…or were you? Oh god you were crying over porn?!”
“Do I look like Teukie-hyung to you? Who the hell cries over porn?” Kyuhyun turned around and stared at Sungmin, falling right into his trap
“Ahaha, gotcha!” Sungmin, who had used Kyuhyun’s momentary distraction to his advantage, grabbed the laptop out of Kyuhyun’s hand and managed to get halfway across the room before the other realized what had happened. Sungmin ran into the kitchen, where the other members had gathered together for a rare, sit-down, dinner, and started to explain.
“Hey guys! Guess what? I saw Kyuhyun watc---mmphh” the rest of his sentence got cut off as Kyuhyun practically jumped him from behind and clamped a hand over his mouth.
“Hyung! What the hell?! I told you to leave it alone” Kyuhyun yelled, surprising everyone because Kyuhyun have never before raised his voice, let alone cursed, at Sungmin. The effect was instantaneous; Sungmin took one look at the magnae, promptly set the computer down on the kitchen counter and ran out of the room, letting the headphones, that were still plugged into the computer, fall to the ground.
“Look what you did! Was that really necessary?” to everyone’s shock, it was Heechul who suddenly shot up, casting a dark look at the man in question, and turned to exit the room, followed quickly by a frowning Leeteuk.
Before anyone could react, a loud crash echoed through the room when the computer flew off the counter and onto Donghae’s lap as the headphones were jerked out of the slot on the side, a result of Heechul and Leeteuk having gotten tangled in the wire. The two groaned from their position on the ground and just like the tension disappeared, leaving only laughter at the sight of the leader and the drama queen lying tangled up and confused on the floor.
Still laughing, Donghae reached over to put the computer aside so he could help his hyungs. But his fingers pushed down upon the space bar as he moved the computer and the resulting sound made the laughter vanish as quickly as it had appeared.
“…you’re our team magnae that I can’t dislike…hyung is praying for you…let’s be strong okay? From Yesung”
It was like time had frozen…each face held the remnants of their previously happy expressions, but hearing their lead vocalist’s voice had brought about a terrible change; the frozen smiles combined with the eyes that held hurt and nostalgia made for a dreary atmosphere. They stood in a stunned silence, all unsure of what to do as Kyuhyun slowly sunk to the floor, wrapping his arms around himself as he let out unintelligible sobs.
“he said he couldn’t dislike me…that he would never get mad at my teasing if I came back to perform with Super Junior…so why did he leave me?”
Sungmin, who had returned to the room once he had heard the laughter, rushed over to Kyuhyun and wrapped his arms around his dongsaeng, whispering soothing words as he rocked him back and forth gently. This was the final straw for Heechul, who tore his eyes away from the sad scene ahead of him and dragged the two who would help him restore normalcy in the dorms once more out of the room.
**IN THE OTHER ROOM**
“What’s wrong with you Heechul? Why are you being like this?!” Leeteuk asked, worried after watching Heechul pace around without saying a word.
“What’s wrong with me? What’s wrong with YOU? How can you live like this? Have you finally gone blind? Or are you just that used to pretending to be happy with every damn thing that even now you have no problem keeping up your façade?”
“Hey! We’re all frustrated here, but there is no need for you to take it out on Leeteuk!”
“Shut up Kangin! I seriously can’t believe you two! You’re both so fake it’s pathetic.” seeing Kangin about to retort, Leeteuk subtly nudged him and conveyed with his eyes that they should just let Heechul continue with his tirade
“I can’t go on like this! How long are we going to have to pretend that everything is alright? Do you not understand what happened today? Kyuhyun, CHO KYUHYUN, was crying! When was the last time he cried over something not related to the accident? Don’t tell me that it didn’t bother you because I know for a fact I saw you practically choke Sungmin’s stuffed rabbit when he wasn’t looking, Leeteuk.” Heechul shot a dark smile over to the leader, smirking as Leeteuk glared back.
“Sungmin’s bunny? You mean the one that Yesung gave to him? Damn Leeteuk, what did the poor thing ever do to you?
“…it was just there!”
“…” Kangin and Heechul shared an incredulous look as Leeteuk looked away pointedly
“Well what do you want us to do?? Is there still something we can do?” Kangin asked, eager to get the topic away from that of his boyfriend’s violent tendency to attack helpless toys.
“I can’t believe you have to ask. Of course there is. We have to hunt that stupid turtle-lover down and bring him back!”
“But…what if he doesn’t want to come back?”
“Oh he does…and even if he doesn’t, do you think he has a say in this? He’s been selfish for long enough.” Heechul scoffed, as if the idea of not being able to get Yesung back was ridiculous
“You think you can convince him to come back? I don’t know Heechul, he never fell for your “charms” like the rest of your dongsaengs” Kangin couldn’t resist poking fun at one of the things about Yesung that bothered Heechul the most.
“Kangin please! I know you love me but come on, Leeteuk is right here!”
“You slimy little--”
“Anyway, that’s great and all, but you guys seem to be forgetting that in order to kidnap Yesung, we first need to know where he actually is…which last time I checked, none of us did.” Leeteuk interrupted, rolling his eyes at the typical display of the love-hate relationship that Kangin and Heechul shared.
“Oh…I guess we didn’t think of that...maybe we should ask manager-hyung?”
“It’s impossible for him to just have disappeared! I’m sure he left some sort of trace of where he was going!
“Well there was nothing in his room remember? We already went through it”
“…you need to stop watching TV with Leeteuk. This isn’t a TV show where the main actors find a plane ticket-stub with the name of the place and other details that will lead them to their goal just conveniently lying around. This is going to take some actual work.”
“…or you could just check his twitter” came a quiet voice from the bed, startling the other three occupants of the room.
“Holy shit Eunhyuk! Don’t do that!!” Leeteuk gasped, clutching his chest.
“How long have you been there? It’s rude to eavesdrop on your elders!” Kangin exclaimed, moving to pat Leeteuk comfortingly on the shoulder.
“..I was here first! It’s not my fault you decide to have these super secret meetings without bothering to check if anyone else is in the room first”
“Eunhyuk…are you okay? Leeteuk, who had never before heard such a sarcastic tone from the even-tempered dancer, questioned, moving to sit next to him on the bed.
“I’m fine, Heechul-hyung doesn’t seem to be though” Eunhyuk responded, pointing towards the man who had not said a word yet, choosing instead to glare at the dancer.
“Err…yeah so what were you saying about Yesungie’s twitter?” Leeteuk knew how Heechul felt about Eunhyuk’s treatment of Yesung, and decided it was probably better not to have Heechul strangle him, at least not until they got the information they needed. Then Leeteuk would feel no remorse whatsoever letting Eunhyuk face Heechul’s wrath.
“I thought you guys were supposed to be good at this? Check his twitter and you’ll see what I’m talking about” mentally urging Kangin to not hurt Eunhyuk for being a rude dongsaeng, Leeteuk whipped his phone out of his pocket, pressed a few buttons and impatiently waited as his twitter homepage loaded. Once it did, he went over to the right hand side where the icons of the twitters he followed were shown and clicked furiously at Yesung’s profile picture
“Hyung, Yesung’s page might not load, but your phone will definitely break if you keep doing that”
“Shut up Kangin” Leeteuk growled and then he stopped, because his phone had just flashed over to Yesung’s homepage and he finally saw what Eunhyuk had been talking about. At first glance, it appeared to be just a picture of Yesung with his arms around his little brother, but at closer inspection, Leeteuk saw little details that indicated that one, it was a recent picture, and two, it was taken in his home.
“Cheonan.” That was the only word he needed in order to convey the message to the other two
“He’s at home? We should have known! He did mention a couple of times that he hadn’t seen Jongjin and his parents in ages!” Kangin all but yelled, this newfound discovery exciting him enough to the point of jumping around the room like a lunatic.
“Well what are we waiting for? We should go bring him back right now!” Eunhyuk exclaimed, sliding off the bed and onto his feet in a smooth motion.
“What makes you think we’d take you with us?” Heechul had finally decided to speak, but Leeteuk wished he had started with anything but that. Knowing that Heechul would never let Eunhyuk accompany them until they worked out their issues, Leeteuk dragged a confused Kangin out of the room with him, letting the door shut gently behind them.
A/N: So...if anyone out there is still reading this, THANK YOU! Again, I'm really very sorry about this enormous delay. Also, if anyone was wondering what I was referring to when I wrote these lines "You're the team magnae that I can't dislike, hyung is praying for you,", I was talking about this
