A/N: Yeah idek what to say anymore...I'll have a longer post saying what exactly kept me from updating, so if you're interested, check that out later and I hope you guys will understand! also, I know this chapter seems really weird and funny, but the next chapter is all angst, so this is to make up for that! and yes, in the next chapter you will see what happened between Yesung and Eunhyuk
“Heechul! Wait up” Leeteuk panted as he crouched down, trying to catch his breath. He should have known that allowing Heechul free reign of their second mission, Operation Drag Stupid Turtle Lover Back to the Dorms, was not a good idea. He had forgotten that with Heechul, there was no thorough planning or common sense. No, with Heechul, there was only room for improvisation and general insanity.
“Yah, look what you did to him! What are you walking so fast for?” Kangin asked, albeit through a few wheezes of his own.
“I’m not running, just walking. Fast. It’s not my fault he’s too old to keep up” Heechul scoffed, ignoring the answering shout of “We’re the same age!” as he continued to “walk” down the deserted path that lead to the street on which Yesung lived.
Kangin rolled his eyes and slipped an arm around Leeteuk’s waist, hoisting the older man up and supporting his weight with his upper body. He had been listening to both men bicker for what seemed like the entire journey over to Yesung’s hometown and had been wishing that Heechul had allowed for Eunhyuk to come along. The younger man always tended to be a voice of reason in disputes but Heechul had been furious after whatever he had talked about with Eunhyuk and refused to even speak his name. Still, Kangin thought mutinously, if he had to listen to another word from either of them, he would rip his own hair out. Luckily, they were getting close to their final destination..
Leeteuk must have noticed his irritation because he proceeded to wrap an arm around Kangin’s waist and lean in to him, whispering in purposely slurred English
“Sawry. Love ya baybee”
Those lines, when delivered with the leader’s trademark sleazy grin, had never failed to make him laugh, and today was no exception. His irritation crumbled as he watched Leeteuk’s characteristic dimple appear and he couldn’t resist the urge to lean down and gently peck those smiling lips. He savored the moment, but it was over much too soon- as seemed to be the case with most good things lately.
“Ouch! What was that for?” He yanked his head away from Leeteuk’s and whirled around to face a smug Heechul, hand going up automatically to soothe the stinging pain from Heechul’s slap that he felt at the very base of his head
“Save your gay tendencies for the bedroom, will you? There are little kids around” Heechul drawled, indicating the children who seemed to be playing an elaborate game of house on the sidewalk next to a large church. They spent a few seconds watching as a pretty girl came up and scooped one of the little children into her arms and turned around to walk away, stopping short as she spotted them standing a few feet away. By the time her jaw had dropped and her phone was flipped open, Heechul had already secured an arm around both men’s wrists and catapulted them down the street.
“Heechul, why are we running? No one is chasing us!” Leeteuk wheezed, trying to pull his hand out of Heechul’s vice like grip.
“I know. Look” Heechul smirked, pointing to the house that was looming in the distance. “We’re here”
Kangin, relieved and hoping to not have to hear any more whining from the older men, raced up to the front door and knocked frantically. A plump, pleasant faced woman opened the door, the smile fading from her face to be replaced with a look of surprise as the three men bowed respectfully in greeting.
“Heechul, Leeteuk..Kangin” she said, smiling at each man in turn “What are you boys doing here?”
“It’s actually quite a long story” Leeteuk said, straightening up. “May we come in?”
“Ah, of course, of course. How silly of me, come on in” she said, turning around and leading the way to the living room “Can I get you boys something to drink?”
“No, no, we’re fine. Please don’t bother yourself.”
“Nonsense, you’ve come such a long way. I’ll fix something up” She smiled, warm brown eyes crinkling at the corners, and proceeded to go to the kitchen. The three occupants of the living room looked at each other while the waited, wondering where to start explaining and what Yesung’s mother might already know. Just as Heechul was leaning over to whisper his plan to Leeteuk, the older woman walked back into the room, carrying a plastic tray piled high with snacks and drinks.
“I hope you don’t mind the mess” she said, indicating the newspapers strewn around on the couch and the half-empty bowl of ramen on the center table. “I was actually just watching you boys on TV; that’s why I was so surprised to see you here”
“Oh? What’s airing today? Kangin asked curiously, accepting a glass of soda with a grateful smile.
“It’s the latest episode from Variety World.” She stated, a bit unnecessarily as the advertisements ended at that moment and the TV tuned back to the SBS program. All talking ceased as they saw the camera zoom in on Yesung’s face as he got ready to sing his song for the OST of the drama “Cinderella’s Sister”. Even though they had all heard him sing it countless times before, they couldn’t help but hold their breaths as they saw their brother, the man they hadn’t seen in days, let his talent shine. The focus, the determination and the desire to prove his worth all were visible on on his face, and at that moment, they truly didn’t have any words to say. All too soon though, the spell was broken as they heard the MC begin to praise Yesung’s vocal skills.
“Yesung-sshi, you sang really beautifully. Why are you in Super Junior? If you become a soloist I think you can succeed” At these words, all three men stiffened impossibly, waiting with bated breath for Yesung’s response. They didn’t know what they wanted to hear, but thought that even if Yesung agreed..they couldn’t blame him, not with the way he had been treated for the past few years. But still, they wanted him to want to be with them, to want to work together to preserve Super Junior’s image and goals forever. It was an unfounded worry however, because Yesung’s next words showed to them just how committed he was to their dreams, even if he wasn’t happy being in his current situation.
“I think that it is possible, but I like being in Super Junior as a team”
“Why do you boys look so surprised?” Yesung’s mother questioned incredulously, confused at the surprised yet relieved expressions their faces bore “It’s not like he would say anything else- he loves being a part of Super Junior, he said so himself yesterday!”
“Then why did he leave us?” the instant those words left his mouth, Kangin wished he could take them back. The three of them had come in with a “plan” and he had just blown it.
“What are you talking about? Leeteuk, Heechul” she said after a moment of silence during which both older men tried to avoid her piercing gaze “answer me. What is Kangin talking about?” tension in the room seemed to thicken exponentially, and as if to make the awkward moment even worse, a loud call of “Umma!” sounded through the house, signaling the return of the woman’s two sons. Jongjin came bouncing into the room holding on to a large plastic bag from a designer boutique.
“Umma, look! Look at what hyung bought for m-”he trailed off in embarrassment, noticing their guests for the first time.
“Jin-ah? Why are you just standing he-Oh” Yesung trailed off much in the same manner his brother had, looking completely shocked. Time seemed to slow down, and Heechul could have sworn that he could actually hear the ticking of the clock and the birds chirping outside the window. It was time to think of a new plan, he thought wryly, and preferably before they all suffocated because of the awkwardness and the tension.
“Hey Yesung! What are you doing here? It’s so good to see you!” Kangin burst to his feet and dragged Yesung into a strange one-armed hug, patting him firmly on the back and almost knocking the wind out of him.
“err, I live here?” Yesung said once he was released, rubbing the back of his neck uneasily “What are you guys doing here?”
“Kim Jongwoon! Don’t be so rude to our guests! They came to visit you from so far away. Now why don’t you all sit here and catch up, I’ll get dinner started. Jongjin, come!”
“But umma! I want to stay, it’s not fair, I-” Jongjin’s pleas in the background as his mother dragged him away. Yesung chuckled, turning away from the doorway only to be faced with the slightly hungry gazes of his band members. His hand rose again to soothe the goose bumps he felt on the back of his neck as he made his way over to sit on the armchair that faced the couch the others were sitting on.
“So…” he let out, not knowing quite what to say
“You look well Yesung, it’s good to see that you’ve been taking care of yourself” Leeteuk smiled, not once removing his gaze from his dongsaeng’s face.
“Yeah…so seriously, what are you guys doing here? Is everything ok? Did someone get hurt? Oh my god, someone got hurt! Was it Kyuhyun? I told him to be more careful! But does he listen? No, of course not, that stupid maknae. Why didn’t you guys tell me before? I would have- wait, if he got hurt, what are you guys doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the-” Yesung questioned, his panic becoming more and more evident as he spoke.
“Kyuhyun’s fine.We came to ask you to come back”: Heechul cut in. Screw the plan, he thought. There was no need for pretenses if it was just them.
“Come back? To what?” Yesung asked, finally having calmed down a little.
“To us, to Super Junior” Kangin spoke clearly, hoping to make the older man understand.
“I don’t understand..you guys came all the way here to tell me to cut my vacation short? Couldn’t you just have called or something?” Yesung asked, laughing softly.
“Vacation?!”
A/N: Pardon the lame cliffhanger-y ending for this chapter. I couldn't find a ending point for this and the next chapter has some very big revelations so I thought the humor should be mainly in this chapter. Again, I can't thank you guys enough for constantly keeping me going and asking about this story- it really touched me and while I did not do my part as an author, you all did yours as readers, and I'm truly very appreciative :) Next Chapter will be up in two days max
