There are books on the shelves that no one has ever read and no one really cares about. I ask dad why we have them. He says, "Because I like books." I look at them. I'm home from my exciting shopping trip, and now it's time to write my paper. It has to be five pages long. It's possible. It's funny how I didn't realize
I had the clip in my hand
until I paused at the top
of the staircase
to cover my eyes,
and how suddenly
all I wanted
was to leave it behind,
neatly lined up on your
windowsill
between Anna's earring
and the Peebles tag,
because then I'd have an excuse
to come back.

I get home today to find that my cat has killed a bunny and placed it on the doormat. Not only is it dead, but also neatly decapitated. I think he's trying to prove that he's still capable even in his old age. I come back later to discover that he'd removed some vital organs and left them next to the body ( Read more... )
