It's been a long arduous 2 months here at the all new salt mine. I haven't been able to update very often but I'm here now!
December and January were completely devastating because the shop's been so short handed every one had weeks of vacation they couldn't take and with the new kids doing the supertech thing they all went at once. I can't blame them, they've been working long hard hours with more and more responsibilities getting piled up on them.
February has been interesting - I've somehow become a Team Leader, coaching the gang to work together and share information. I kind of understand it - in the military people are always getting thrown into new situations and you learn real fast to pull together. Civilians don't seem to understand that concept. Factions have arose and I've heard the phrase "It's us against them" too damn many times - that's not something that's safe to say in this economy. I've been working on not ever hearing that again. Things are getting interesting with a few folks in the office, more on that later.
A local artist, Teresa, has taken pity on me, she invited me for a ride in the mountains a couple of weeks ago, and those of you that know me know how that ended up heh, heh, heh.... me helping her haul her heavy artwork into a posh studio at the 50,000 foot level (Ok, it was 11,500 feet - but the air is just as thin). :^)
She's a fun person, a very skilled artist, a knowledgeable tech, and fun to talk to. We share a lot of interests and are making all kinds of silly plans to kill time together. If half of them work out we won't have time to go to work, but hey! MLB tickets for $4? I am so there! Considering the garbage that Hollywood has been putting out the worst seats in Coors field on a cold day are better than the best seats at any Nicholas Cage movie.
And her dog is cool too.
As for the mountains - I've been trying to get my co-relocaters from WNY, Nick and Nicole, to explore the mountains with me, if nothing else at least the front range. Nick and I have gone up to Idaho Springs a few times but Nicole always comes up with dumb excuses. Tomorrow (today actually) I'm dragging the both of them and Craig (who relocated from Philly) up to Idaho Springs for lunch at
The Buffalo Restaurant, then maybe some touristy wandering around in
Blackhawk. It's like pulling teeth trying to get Nicole out of that apartment! Teresa can't come, she's got to work on her art and at work (She's in my office too) but we're going to grab a pizza later .
Is it just me or has TV gone into Major Suckage mode lately? The History Channel, Discovery, and History International are completely unwatchable, National Geographic is all dog whisperer all the time, and even the Science Channel is blowing chunks with re-runs of The Worst Of Junkyard Wars. Even the psudo-pr0n on Cinemax bites the root. The only shows I can stomach anymore are 24, Chuck and House... and Now they're all on the same night!!!! Poop!
