I recently came back from my first performance of two this weekend. This entire week has been set upon the theme "Waging Peace in a Time of War", with lectures concerning composers who were involved in the ravages of war, in conjunction with performances of their works throughout this weekend. Times like you described up above (except for the whole extensive and gruelling practice sessions) make me wish I had stuck to the clarenet. Almost.

At least you're almost done with freshman year. We should celebrate by play many a multiplayer game or something similiar.

Now you can look forward to searching all over the D.C. area for a decent summer job.

I added a link to a sample of the Penderecki piece. After you hear it, you'll have an idea of just how whacked-out I am for enjoying it so much. What you may find surprising is that the sample doesn't even contain my favorite part. I will most definitely buy a recording of it soon so you can experience it in all its glory.
