Something definitely wrong upstairs...
I honestly don't know what I'm thinking sometimes. Throughout this freshman year of my college career, I've been bombarded with assignment after assignment, essay paper after essay paper, all while juggling regular orchestra and jazz rehearsals. It's rougher on me being a commuter student, having to put up with 1 1/2 hour rides to the university

Sometimes that can be a good thing, but in the case of being asked to do everything because your the only one to do it; not only is that not good for you or your health, its not fair to you.
Just because the University has got to go out of their way and pay some other starving college or post-college person to come and play for a couple of bucks shouldn't bother you when they want you to play something.
Unless it's mandatory or you will be well paid for doing the gig, I say don't do it, let someone else take the slack. Besides, how much work do they expect a freshman to do?
