Scandalous!

So, my latest and last OU course has started in earnest and I've been somewhat busy in the evenings. Hence, I haven't got around to posting neither my latest social exploits nor my fanart. So... here are the highlights and six wallpapers.

Tuesday 3rd Feb - I travelled to snow-covered Sheffield to see Russell Brand with my friend Samantha. He was performing at the beautiful City Hall.

Many people have asked if Russell makes reference to the "Sachsgate" incident. Not only does he make reference but the whole show is hinged on the experience! Not the actual incident himself which he apologies for but the whole media circus that erupted arounded it: this provided a lot of material. His stand-up material was very funny and both Samantha and I enjoyed the show.

The only negative was that our seats were way up on the top balcony at the side and we couldn't even see the left quarter of the stage. I was online purchasing those tickets the minute they went on sale - I've no idea how so many other people got there first!

At the end of the show, Russell announced that he would meet people in the foyer. Samantha and I went down to wait but so did a large number of the audience hence we barely saw him let alone got opportunity to talk to him. Boo! Hopefully, next time.

Sadly, I also did not manage to get any decent photos of Russell. Photos and filming were not allowed and even though I tried to snap a few, I was quickly spotted by numerous staff who all insisted I cease and desist - dang it! For those photos I did snap, I had to extend my lens to full optical zoom and that needs a steady hand which is tricky when your laughing! Hence the few I took are very blurry! Here are a few samples:

You can view them all here.

And just because I think it is one of the cutest things I've ever seen, here is the photo I took of the two miniature snowmen that Samantha and her housemate built in their back garden:

Prior to this, Samantha and I had previously ventured out to Sheffield Arena on the 7th January to see The Mighty Boosh. I had seen them the December before in Manchester (see previous post "It's 3 o'clock") but it was the first time for Samantha. She enjoyed the show but agreed with my initial assessment from my first viewing that the second half is much stronger than the first.

Despite photography also being banned at this show, the staff were less officious and I managed to get several shots including some quite good ones utilising my additional digital zoom. Sadly, although the quality is decent, the heads of the people in front frequently blocked the overall scene. Here are some of the best:

In this section I present six new fanart wallpapers. The first four were inspired by the above two shows. The last two were inspired by my previous Joe Flanigan wallpapers now being the wrong resolution and aspect for my (no longer so) new laptop. All wallpapers are in 1440x900 resolution.

Fanart Credits
1-2: Due to my Russell photos being frankly naff, the two Brand wallpapers I have made use photos scanned from the show's programme.
3-4: The two Mighty Boosh wallpapers use photos I took at both the Manchester and Sheffield shows.
5-6: The Joe Flanigan walls use photos I found on the net.

The credit for all textures used goes to those in my Resource List (bottom left of my journal).

The table generator used to display my photos and walls was created by sql_girl.

Comments are love. Walls are for snagging. Enjoy! &hearts
