I'd hope, after all this time, I'd be able to relay one thing said by a colleague that's pretty gender essentialist that led to a personal revelation about how I function, without it being read as an endorsement of said colleague's views with regards to girls' interests or abilities.

OK, thanks, I didn't think you would have meant that girls couldn't like logic and puzzles, and I appreciate the clarification that you're not endorsing his gender essentialism. I just (still) don't get how his comment could feel affirming of your gender identity without believing in that. Maybe I misunderstood what the personal revelation was. Anyway, feel free to ignore my confusion.

I'm also wondering what "No." is about.
