Um... the dorm was looking kind of empty without Mike around, so I thought I would put up some Halloween decorations. I guess it's kind of funny. Those chimera-toys of his scared me, and now I'm hanging up stuff that's supposed to be scary on purpose.

It got me thinking, though. I wonder why we find all these kinds of monsters scary? I can ( Read more... )

I guess because you can't really dress up as a forest fire during Halloween. I'm still going to use my tank everywhere. It's a part of me. Fear's good to have anyone because without it you end up doing way too reckless things. Arguably that would make you a much more efficient fighter, but we come from two different backgrounds don't we?

And I'm not afraid of anything!

I... I won't make you stop using it just because I don't like it. I just... it's hard for me to understand being so attached to something that was made to kill people.

I guess you're right. We do come from really different backgrounds.

Well because it's one of my own inventions, for one.

How we were raised really changes what we fear, I guess. I was raised to fight all my life before coming here, so hurting others is less...important? scary? trivial? I can't find the right word for it...

...I guess that kinda makes me sound like a monster to you, huh?

But I guess I've become a bit more appreciative of life since coming here and meeting everyone. A little. It's hard to throw away so much of what I learned and to be honest I don't want to do that completely, but I'm doing my best to have some sort of balance. If that makes any sort of sense.

I never really liked huge monsters myself until I ended up turning into one at night. You have to walk in their shoes to understand how it feels sometimes, huh? Still, there are always good and bad monsters. And by someone in a bandage, you mean a mummy right? A lot of people don't like the undead, and some claiming they can curse others, I can see why they'd be frightening to some.

As for my fear...well it's not really news to anyone, but if stand in a large body of water...I sink. There's no way around it. I've tried taking swimming lessons but unless I have floaters...it just happens.

The cruise trip was interesting because of that, let me tell you.

You're scared of water...? I-I can definitely see how drowning would be frightning, especially if it's somewhere that has a really fast current. But at least it's the kind of fear that you can avoid, if you're careful.

Unfortunately, I can't just pass up someone needing my help just because they are near a large body of water. I'm just thankful that if I run faster enough I can skid over it quickly. Hasn't let me down, at least for now.

Wh-whoa... if I was scared of water, I don't know that I'd be able to do something that risky. You really are brave...!
