So, you want to apply for sales permission but have no idea what this "comment screening" is all about? Or perhaps you've left a comment on a sales post but didn't know that you received a reply? Look no further than this guide. I'll teach you how to turn on comment notifications by email in order to find out if you've been approved to sell on the community!
I. Go to your Account: It is located in the top left corner of basically any LiveJournal page.
II. Head to Notifications: After the Account page has popped up, look for the tab labelled Notifications since our goal is to be notified about whether or not we've been approved for sales permission!
III. Choose your methods of notification: In order to find out if you've been approved for sales permission, you will have to pick at least one of these methods. The easiest way to find out is through the email address you signed up with when you made your LiveJournal account.
Turning on inbox notifications is a very useful tool BUT it will not help you find out if you've been approved for sales. Why?
It is because all comments to the sales permission page are screened after they have been approved or denied. Since you are not a moderator, you cannot view anything that is screened, even if it is in response to your comment. :C
On a side note - as a long-time LiveJournal user, I highly reccommend turning on notifications via inbox. If the livejournal system fails to send you email notifications of replies to your entries or comments, finding them in your inbox is a great way to make sure you haven't missed anything important (e.g. replies to your sales inquiries, group auction updates, shipping status, etc...) and you can always leave it in your inbox as a reminder.
IV: Save your work: Now that you've turned on notifications, don't forget to save. This button is located in the bottom left corner of the Notifications page.
V: Apply for Sales Permission! Now that you've gotten notifications turned on, you're ready to apply for sales permission! Read the instructions on the page and fill in the requested information into a new comment on the post as such:
Notice that when this comment was posted, the bar behind the username is BLUE.This shows that the comment is still active for any member to read or reply to. After you've applied, be patient. Sales permission is designed to take some time... but when you finally see that your comment has turned to a different color...
This gray color means your comment has now been screened... and if your comment has been screened, then it has been replied to! So head on over to your email inbox to see if you successfully received a response.
VI: Check your email: As you can see, this user received a reply to their sales application in the email inbox. This automatic email from LiveJournal shows you the comment that you made as well as the response that was given. Isn't that nifty?
