What Was I Thinking?

Last night was Pizza Night. I met up with a bunch of people at Mellow Mushroom, one of the best pizza places in town, and I ordered a salad. A salad! Not even the first slice of pizza. Nothing. I ate the stuff food eats. Green, leafy lettuce. It wasn't like I was craving lettuce. At no point did I set out to graze. "Hmm. I feel like being ( Read more... )

Yummy - Chicken Caesar is AWESOME! Wish I had one to munch on right now. Salad is good for you as long as you don't use Iceberg or 'Butter' lettuce - they have no nutritional properties and don't necessarily digest well in lots of people. Romaine is VERY good for you as are fresh spinach leaves and baby greens - David turned me onto fresh spinach recently and it's awesome, even on sandwiches! :o)

I like baby spinach in a salad. Then again my salads used to be almost as popular as my main courses during dinner parties. Wish I had the opportunity to do one of those for Friday, but I'll most likely just be 'bagging it'.

It is getting easier for me to make smart food choices. I don't mean that what I was eating before was bad. Only that my portion selection was lousy. I was eating two to three times more than I needed. Not so much anymore.

I had a Chicken Caesar Salad for lunch.

There's a vegetarian place in town I want to try. Maybe we could plan an outing there one night.

Fred,
I would be willing to pay for an entire group to go out and eat dinner at any place that only served fresh vegatarians.

Please let me know if this is that place.
Thanks,
Davercles

Fred,
Well that makes sense! It goes along with my theory that vegetarians are like tomatoes...
they are easily bruised and have no souls.

I tend to have the opposite problem - we're eating much healthier at home now, so that when I occasionally eat out (lunch at the office, usually) it's a struggle for me to go for the healthy stuff. I think my biggest weakness when it comes to junk food is french fries ::sigh::

I had every intention of eating pizza when I left work. By the time I got there, I was ambivalent. When everyone started ordering, I just found myself asking for a salad. It was weird. I'm not saying it was a bad salad. It just wasn't what I thought I was going to get.
