The player itself was not expensive, and I figured I could put my old player in the guest room with my old TV, and so I purchased the DVD player. It was less than $ ( Read more... )

It's always puzzled me why you can't get region-free players in America! Over here you can pick one up for £20 or so.

Why are they so hard to come by?

I don't know. But here, they are quite expensive.

I believe they are coming down recently, but they are still expensive. I guess they want to keep us boxed in to R1 DVDs whenever possible, for whatever reason.

But between my interests in scifi and classic film, I have really been missing alot of stuff because of this.

It was really great to stick in a R2 copy of "Dive Bomber" last night and see it come up on the screen! I was SOOOOO happy.

Now I'm gonna order that Marlene Dietrich collection that you guys have coming out next month! Woot!

The MPAA will be around soon because you're causing somebody to starve by watching region free movies ;)

B-O-O. H-O-O.

I have over 800 DVDs in my commercially released collection - and that's not even counting the fact that many are whole seasons of TV shows that only count as one DVD in DVD Profiler.

No one is going hungry on account of me, that's 'fer DAMN sure! *lol*
