[Akane was working on some paperwork in the office.  Ichigo had stepped out to go get some lunch in the Rukongai and had said he'd bring her some if she did his paperwork.  She would have done his paperwork with or without the promise of lunch, but he seemed so pleased with this compromise that she agreed to it

[When Ichigo returned, he was carrying a big bag with their lunches in one hand, and his free arm was supporting something hidden inside his captain's haori. Whatever it was, he seemed excited about it. It was moving around and making little noises.]

Akane! I'm back with lunch! And I brought a surprise!

[akane_kasai]

[Akane gives him a bright smile.] Welcome back! I'm almost done with this form, and then we can eat!

[She takes a couple of moments to write a couple things, sign it, and then place it on top of the stack. She looks back to Ichigo.]

Do I get to see the surprise before or after lunch?

[He laughs and sets the bag down.]

I don't think I can keep it hidden until after. [HE shifts his arm around a bit, reaching into his haori to pull out a scruffy tabby Kitten. He holds it out to her, looking oh so proud of himself.]

I found it in a trash bin!

[Akane's eyes light up and she gently takes it from him and cuddles it close.] Oh! It's so adorable!

[She grows serious.] But...pets aren't allowed in the Seireitei...
