The only thing I wonder is if he really knew her age. You know how I feel about guys and younger girls they target on the internet, but he's never struck me as that that type. Nor did I ever notice him targeting younger girls in his chatting or posting--quite the opposite actually.
he may or may not have known her age. And I can believe that the girl told her mother that he was 17 when she knew that he wasn't. But what gets me is:
Police say the girl told Evans that she'd divulged his age to her mother. Evans "asked her several questions about why she had told her," charges say, and then told the teen they were now just friends.
to which my immediate reaction is -- what had he told her they were before?
What a small world. I taught this girl how to use a darkroom! I was sort of her mentor back in college (she is extremely intelligent and has been taking college classes for some time).
Again, I really, really loathe guys who target young girls on the internet--so often the girls WANT to be treated like a "woman of the world" (Hell, I know that when I was 12, I thought I was completely grown up and didn't see why I shouldn't be allowed to date.)
But these guys have to understand that these are NOT women, no matter how smart, sexy and savvy they seem. They are still kids.
My problem is simply that I've not heard Josh's side. I worked for 15 years in news, and I hate this kind of stuff because the only side that will talk for legal reasons are the "victim's" side.
If he knowingly had sex with a 14-year-old, I don't know what to say: The Josh I knew wasn't the kind of person who'd do that. I'd like to know what happened before I toss him in jail--where I think sexual preditors need to go.

I didn't even know him very well, but he's on my list.

I never thought he..
You know, I don't even know what to say, except I'm shocked and probably more than a little rattled.
