Murakami is that unusual creature, a metaphysical novelist with a warm, down-to-earth voice and a knack for creating credible characters and spinning a lively yarn.
Old movie (1980) before Reality TV hit, the strangely prophetic "La Mort en direct" (English Title: "Death Watch")
Roddy (Harvey Keitel) has a camera implanted in his brain. He is then hired by a television producer (Harry Dean Stanton) to film a documentary of terminally ill Katherine (Romy Schneider), without her knowledge. His footage will then be run on the popular TV series, "Death Watch".
Getting Over It by Anna Maxted (I'm dying to read it again, in fact)
Memento.. cheesy acting, sort of, and at times a little hard to grasp but overall pretty gripping.. and the end was pretty mind boggling... it reminded me of this short story we read in High School, something about a Tiger, where you had to draw your own conclusions about the end...
