Hello my friends. It is time for a very late entry of my journaling device. Last night was truly a marvelous night, the type of night which spawns countless tales which are passed down from generation to generation. As most of you should know, I have had a small crush on a certain girl named Hilary Duff from the very beginning of her Lizzie McGuire days on Disney. I was there to see The Lizzie McGuire Movie opening day, I was there to buy The Lizzie McGuire Movie DVD the first day it was released, and last night, as Hilary's first non-Lizzie non-music feem (at least that I am aware of ) was released in theaters, nothing was going to stop me from being there.

As all my other fagbitch friends are out of town, I had to settle for Gayle as a date. Though, I am just being a poove as even if my fagbitch friends had been around, none of them are truly lame enough to hit up A Cinderella Story with me on opening night. Well, Stank is probably lame enough, but there's no way he could help me navigate the mean streets of Birmingham the way Gayle does. Being a girl, Gayle has a tendency to dawdle, a tendency which caused us to arrive at the Palladium later than we would have liked. Because of this, the show time we were shooting for had sold out. This caused much grief, and even though Gayle desperately wanted to see I, Robot (she has a thing for Will Smith and black folks in general) we were forced to settle on a later time. This gave us about an hour and a half to kill, so we walked to the nearby Coney Island so that I could get some grub.

The Coney Island was on par with just about every other Coney Island ever. Better than National (and what isn't?) but still average food. They did give us complimentary pita bread though, which was quite yummy and quite free. That pretty much sold me on entire place. After I'd finished eating we still had plenty of time left, so we strolled around the lovely city of Birmingham. Though it is full of yuppies, snobs, and 14 year old hussies, Birmingham is a nice place to walk around. I like to look at the silly people and the downtown area has a nice vibe. We laughed at the funny dog statues (there's some kind of dog thing going on) and made our way towards the park where they were having some sort of music festival. There was a band playing and they were nice to listen to for a few seconds. We walked some more, weaving intricate tales of Scott Keef and his love life, which resulted in me punching Gayle in the arm.

After that, it was time for some movies. When we walked into the theater, I was shocked/elated to find that I was the only guy in the entire fucking place. Gayle and I found seats and laughed and giggled at all the funny high school girls around us. The theater filled up a bit more, and there might have been two other guys that eventually showed up, but for the most part I was all alone. At one point before things started, Gayle got up to get some water, leaving me all alone in a theater full of bitches. I could tell that they all wanted to hit on me, but I did my best to restrain my inner mack from releasing itself.

After sitting around for awhile, the previews started. Usually I wouldn't make a big deal out of previews, but there was one for a movie about a racing zebra that just needs to be mentioned. I'm not sure what it was called (something witty like Racing Stripes?) but the fact that it is about a zebra that races and the little girl that loves him is more than enough information. And Joss Whedon actually had to struggle to get Serenity made...

Anyway, as for A Cinderella Story. What can I say? It's not as if I were really expecting it to be good. Yet, it was. Kind of. I guess it was the type of movie that was so ridiculously awful, that you couldn't help but love it. I think my love for Hilary Duff might have slanted my opinion a bit, but it was still an enjoyable ride. There were times when the dialogue was decent, there were times when it was really awful. The same can be said about nearly every other aspect of the movie from the acting to the script. The target audience was clearly a lot younger than 19 and I think if I were like, 8, it probably would have been a lot more enjoyable. It's just, at this point in my life, I've been exposed to so many clichés, that they just don't have the same effect they once did. I think this is going to be one of the movies that exposes the younger generation to those clichés. They've got to pick them up somewhere.

That being said, there were some brilliant lines in the movie. Chad Michael Murray (where the hell did this kid come from?) is a total poove, but he's also really great. He's lucky enough to get the best/worst lines in the entire movie, and he had me cracking up before he even said what I knew he was going to say. One thing I do have to give the flick for, is that in the end, Sam actually sticks up for herself, which is something that goes against every other Cinderella story, ever. It was cinematic genius, but I did genuinely like the characters and was happy in the end. Cheesy and lame, but still stupid fun. And they did make nice use of a Jimmy Eat World song.

And while we're on the subject, I just want to point out how anorexic Hilary Duff is not. She has a waist on her, and in my opinion that is WAYYY hotter than super-skinny stars.

After the film Gayle and I randomly drove around some, until Eric called. We met him at my house and then finished our night up at Meijers and the park. Times were good.

Today was also pretty neat. I got to sleep in for the first time in a week. I finally woke up when my mom brought me lunch. After eating and showering, it was time for a trip to Best Buy with my Asian. He bought Office Space, I bought The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. We hit up Microcenter briefly after that, where he purchased a computer game. We parted ways after that, and I started to watch my movie. It was quite awesome, and I almost finished things when Eric interrupted me. He came over and we tried to figure out what to do for awhile. Gayle somehow made her way into our plans and we decided to play a good game of Scrabble. We were going to go to Java Hutt to play, but somehow we decided a trip to Lake Birmingham (which has a normal name but I like mine better) would be neater. Lakes are always good fun (I'd really wanted to go to Metro Beach but it rained and ruined that) and we walked around and were merry. After that it was dark and ugly, so we went to my house for our scrabble game. I ended up kicking the shit out of both of the smart kids.

The night ended much like that. I was able to finish my movie and write this update. After that I read a book (I am presently reading A Farewell to Arms with Eric as well as the Gunslinger.) and then went to sleep for another 10-12 hours after deciding that I was too afraid to go to church alone.

For those of you too lazy to read, I give you this picture which sums up everything I have just said.
