Didn't they all have bright-colored hoods?

Also, they look more . . . Klingon than I think of dwarves being. (Especially Thorin.) I think I'm seeing some Game of Thrones influence there, too. Fantasy is SRS bizness look, if you know what I mean. Can't The Hobbit just be light-hearted, at least sometimes?

It's been a long while since I've read The Hobbit, but they could have bright-coloured hoods.

Yeah, Thorin looks like he's in the first stage of the augment virus for a Klingon.

The serious poses I think are there primarily due to if you have only a few stills, you must make them look epic. But Bifur, Fili, and even Balin to a lesser extent, have a bit more of a light-hearted look.

I'd imagine my biggest worry with the movie is that it'll be set to the same tone as The Lord of the Rings, epic and grand in scale, rather than the adventurous and tongue in cheek nature I remember from the book.

It is trying to be epic. And I don't particularly think of The Hobbit as epic; it's a comparatively small-scale, cozy adventure, for all that it involves five armies and a cross-country trek.

While not epic, it certainly does contain a fair amount of plot for Bilbo. I mean he fought with the goblins, he battled a troll, he riddled with Gollum, a magic ring he stole. He was chased by wolves, lost in a forest, escaped in a barrel from the elf king's halls.
