i stole this from ronnie because i'm a big fan of her as a writer and as a person. <333333333333

Post the first sentence (or three) a random large chunk from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, you'll get talking about writing, and the motivation to ( Read more... )

Aw yay, you posted! ♥! I like that you used the first person and pulled us in from that angle. The no frill-ness you were talking about is definitely here. I am intrigued about these people and how they all relate to each other. Like, why is Carver okay with Marvel calling her dumb but sweet? Does she agree? How did they all meet? What's Gabriel and Marvel's relationship? What does Gabrielle do? What about Marvel?

Also, this is random, but I really like this sentence:
I thought it was nice of him to collapse where I could see him.
lol! I love when bits of character slip through seamlessly like that.

Looking forward to more, Jordan! Yay, this is exciting! :D

i read this right before i went to work, and then for seven and a half hours i was just like smiling and trying to figure out how to answer this sort of concisely. i'm so happy you think it doesn't have many frills because the first draft was seriously DROWNING IN FRILLS. there will be a paragraph like two pages long and i'm like, does this even SAY anything? but then again, i was going for word count. even back then, i didn't like frills, but i found them kind of necessary lol. and that goes along with the first person too omg! i hate first person! but i thought if i wrote it in first person i would get a much higher word count because people tend to ramble (like i'm doing now...) and it totally worked. and now i can't write about carver without it being in the first person. however, if i write from any of the other characters' perspective, it's in third. o___________O ( ... )

O.O! Oh my gosh, your reply is like another excerpt in itself! Which is awesome! And hee, that is adorable! I love that you fanfic your own fic! :D LOL re: the non-canon pairing. Right? Those always seem to happen. lol

<333 I want to read the meetings! (Though you sort of just wrote it in the reply too!) It's one of my fave parts of stories - how people meet/their first impressions. :D

♥!

i'm sorry! i don't know how to stop talking! there are only two people and me who have read the book, and my sister who knows mostly all of it, so i don't talk about it much! i don't write much fanfic, but i do a lot of non-canon drawings, and i sometimes...request fanfic from my friends... D:!

i will totally have to type them sometime! thank you so much for being so kind! i agree, meetings are always so much fun. :D it's weird for me to think you only know some of the story, though, since everyone else knows it like from beginning to end and all the secondary characters and everything, so it's very very cool to see it from a perspective different than that! ah! <333333333333333333333333333333333
