i didn't realize this today, but a long tme ago... and i really want to stop doing it, but it is sort of hard, people simply don't learn from argueing. It is the fact. They learn from other styles of conversation, such as the socratic method, or... a novel idea, just talking... it is annoying when people say "that is a stupid idea" or make that ( Read more... )

brian- ok, just wanted to comment. i just know you'll love to hear this, but i want to give my opinon on issues. first, it's not a fact that people dont' learn from arguing, you just believe that because our conversations don't usually get anywhere. but i know that a lot of people can be influenced by seeing great debaters. the problem is, people don't show others how to argue better. ok i have to go.. i'll finish later, ha. ale's on ^_^

notice something you typed... people learn from seeing great debaters... SEEING, when people argue, they ussually od not learn, you more than likely have to be a bystander, otherwise you will just completely reject what the other person on the opposing side states

brian- um... ::shrugs:: i'm optimistic in people's ability to be able to argue better. maybe it's not wether they actually able to do it or not, more of wether they want to. i'm sure most people are too stubborn or lazy to want to change how they argue. they think it's just fine. but since so many people ar like this, the picture mgiht give you the impression that it's unavoidable

brian- hey, that's not a reply man, you could have just imed that to me, sheesh. and my comment had to do with yours anyway.. what was it about... well i can't see it from here, anyway, dont' just post crap on. oh yeah, you were saying you had to be watching in order to be able to argue better. i still think that's not right. you can be arguing and observe how the other argues. like, i tell you to give examples all the time. and while you're arguing, your subconcius remembers that, remembers to ask for examples. so the next time you argue, you might suddenly demand for examples and facts. so there. nyah
