Yes. I've been a fan of Cronenberg for a long time. He's not a perfect auteur (sometimes his actor's performances are startlingly weak) but I don't think there's been such a consistently surreal and thoughtful voice in film. Lynch is close, more pure surrealism, less body-horror.
