Pieces is a really forgettable slasher film that didn't even scare my roommate. Who is occasionally scared of the tamer Doctor Who episodes.
The movie opens with a boy putting together a jigsaw puzzle of a nude lady. His mom walks in and freaks the hell out. So he kills her. (He came by his crazy honestly, though.) Flashforward to the 1970s, where young college women (can anybody explain to me the entomology of the phrase "co-eds?") are being murdered by a nut with a chainsaw who is trying to put together a naked woman out of pieces like a jigsaw puzzle. The killer is incredibly obvious the entire time.
This was recommended to me by a couple of people. I was told it was one of the best slasher movies. And I just don't see it.
It hits all the slasher notes, but mostly it was pretty funny. Even to my roommate. The killer is really obvious, though. To the point where my roommate and I were referring to him as "the Guy who Did It" after his second scene. It's pretty gory (which did upset my roommate), and there's a bit of nudity. But for the most part, it's pretty forgettable. Except for the jump scare at the end, which is hilarious.
