Day Eighteen: "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"
Killer Klowns from Outer Space is hilarious! And very 1980s.
It's basically what it says on the tin. Aliens from outer space terrorize a small town by wrapping everybody in cotton candy and then putting them inside their circus tent/spaceship. And then eating them. Nobody survives 'til the end credits.
OMG, this is amazingly camp. And it's actually really funny. The creators set out to create a silly, funny monster movie about aliens that looked like clowns. And they succeeded.
There are a few scary bits. (Obviously, if you have coulrophobia the whole thing is terrifying.) There's a scene with a children's birthday party occurring at a circus themed fast food place with a clown mascot. (Hmmm...wonder where that could be?) A klown sits outside and makes balloon animals. This attracts the attention of a young child. The klown then motions the kid outside. And the kid goes. Egah. I'm sure that wouldn't have bothered me in 2011, but now that I have a godson... It's very adult fear, but it's there.
Mostly, it's silly, though. And very much worth the watch.
