There's no outward hostility towards fat, but that's the only quality of the woman besides her anger and righteousness I can recall. And I guess that plays into the halo vs horns effect. I hate a central thing about her so intensely that everything about her becomes hideous in her particular context.
Also, it's not necessarily the ostracism in of itself as the sheer magnitude, organization, drive, and mentality behind it where I make the comparison.

Also, while social ostracism is a disturbing and problematic issue, comparing it to genocide is a little overblown, I think.
